I'm all for borders, and very ****ing strong ones at that. I also despise globalism, and hate what travel has done to the planet. I'm not the best person to discuss this with, IOW

 

If in North Korea the penalty of listening to usa-music is to be hung and your parents slaughtered and you choose to do it anyway, are you volunteering to die and slaughter your parents? Or did you volunteer to listen to music and the state chose to murder everyone?

It's not voluntary to be quartined, even if it is justified in this situation.

I didn't say that. I am just saying it's not voluntary, it's mandatory. When it comes to human rights, we should be respectful and aware of their importance. We have to have a very good reason and no alternatives when we create rules that impact people's rights. Such rules should only be to protect the life and rights of others.

I don't see this quartine hotel as being the only option. There are better ones that preserve peoples freedoms.

Since the quarantine doesn't apply to anything we NEED to do, and only applies to something a few of us WANT to do (and then only the wealthy, for obvious reasons), it would probably be more useful to regard hotel quarantine as a luxury tax.

 

If you understood how much harder the Left wanted the lockdowns, you'd understand the difference better.

Trust me when I say that many of us on the Left wanted absolute lockdown, New Zealand/Vietnam style. We didn't get it, sadly, and now we have thousands of cases of COVID.

Mate .. I live here! I'm telling you there are ZERO laws against being outdoors. You could sleep under the stars for rest of the year, and as long as your neighbours don't mind you snoring on the front lawn, you won't be troubled.

You would only be 'forced' to do that, had you already volunteered for it (via travel).

 

I guess we differ on the punitive aspect of volunteered travel.. Something like Nazi Germany and those "Let me see zeee papers" and volunteer interrogation sessions

I guess Australians haven't got the news that even though they are around 70% vaxxed they "THE VAXXED" are contracting and spreading the covid and variant like pro's..

Propaganda is the only thing more digestible to the country then the fact that vaxxed or not you're gonna get the virus just like every virus before it..
