Cancer is a 'cash cow'. Billions upon billions of dollars are made diagnosing it, treating it, re-treating it, medicating it, researching it etc. It ain't gonna go away. It's like you having a money tree in your backyard. You ain't gonna cut it down because it blocks your view of the Sunset. Nope, you're gonna be sure that that baby is watered regularly.
Cancer kills millions every year. How can you possibly use your usual anti-corporation rant to say that seeking a cure is not a good idea? You are truly sick.
Granted, it's a good idea..a great idea in fact. Unfortunately we have the FDA to contend with. The FDA, where some bureaucrat doctors that can't make it in private practice or on some hospital staff decide whether or to give their 'stamp of approval' on research. Who knows if cancer couldn't have been eliminated years ago had some nebulous 'doctor/clerk' had any idea how to interpret test studies and medical data?
I did not say it wasn't a good idea, I said corporate greed would cause corps to research items that will make them the most profit... cures are not that item they want to invest in research in can you imagine a CEO telling his investors he is gonna invest billions to kill their cash cow? .
I don't know about the FDA under our Dear Leader, but consultants that I knew where high-qualified clinicians as well as teachers. The problem was not with them but the faceless, unaccountable bureaucrats that didn't let the experts do their job.
If you wish to solely discuss the money motivation, you must also consider that the person or company with cures for cancer will also have a money-tree. And, I think the medical industry and researchers, in the void of cancer treatment, can keep busy dealing with things like heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes, kidney disease, influenza, obesity, mental diseases, Ebola, joint replacement, general injuries, etc.
Meh, a cure for cancer? That's like saying you've found a cure for death; it's not one single thing that you can somehow get rid of. Cancer is any number of completely different disorders, you can't just find a cure for all of them at once.

There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. Symptoms vary depending on the type. Cancer treatment may include chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery. Perhaps there might be an eventual cure for all types of cancer. If all types of cancer use the same treatments, then perhaps there can be a cure for all cancers...
Cancer will be cured, IMO. It just takes adding to the limited knowledge and that will happen unless civilization crashes. In fact, I also think that life expectancies will be pushed forward by decades as our limited knowledge is increased. But this won't come without some degree of social engineering to handle the problem of the size of the population of the world.
IMO the cost of health care is out of control. When upper-middle class people cannot afford health care without insurance, this signals there is a cost problem. When middle and lower class people with health insurance cannot afford medical care, this signals there is a cost problem. I would be curious to know the costs of treating cancer as compared to the overall cost of medical care? Finding an affordable cure for cancer can be the impetus to greatly lower the overall cost of health care in the USA! Some idiots will claim there is a conspiracy to never find a cancer cure because of the money, however, this is absurd. Just think how a cancer cure will effect the economic landscape and those residual costs to society. Lastly, for a huge percentage of illnesses and disease in the USA, we actually hold the cure but the same people inflicted refuse the treatment! Why do so many Americans refuse to take steps to cure most of their ills? Of course I'm talking about obesity and laziness, both which cause numerous health issues. We hold the cure for this yet people won't take the steps...what does this say about the role of health care?

You must gird yourself and say, "I am going to beat this." I know it sounds corny, but the mind is a powerful tool. It controls your body and if you will it to, it will enhance whatever treatment you are receiving. Cancer is fatal if you let it be.

Though prevention has an important place in medicine the curing of disease, not guarding against it, is the primary task of physicians as causes are always much more difficult to determine than outcomes. A reliable, safe and easy TEST for ALL types of cancer might actually save more people than a cure, as many types of cancer are very treatable if caught early
I have an acquaintance who was given a couple of months to live battling melanoma, and his doctor put him in a drug trial program and within a couple of months he was in complete remission...yes I know drugs effect each person differently. But, he also told me they were testing the drug on breast cancer and were having similar results. Sorry I do not know the name of the drug but your doctor(s) should know...best of everything SoniaSharma...
Obviously you don't have an open mind to solving problems like the rising costs of healthcare? Millions of people around the world need a cure...this is a fact. Millions more need to pay attention to preventative measures. Cancer is much more complex than a 'TEST for ALL types of cancer'. We don't need a test for obesity and laziness and alcoholism and drug addiction so what's keeping us from solving the health issues caused by our lifestyle choices?
