The cruelty of the regime and dismal Human Rights record are the points of controversy .
But they should have been told of this before being allowed in the contest in the first place .
Once again , a European type of club trips itself up by not examining proposed member credentials initially .
Knowing what goes on , I expect any protestors to be dealt with most thoroughly and wherever possible behind closed doors .

I suspect because someone who has too many weapons, and fancies about himself as very democratic, does not want to pay for other people's resources.

Why would you want to imagine such an improbable story when the most probable truth is that this regime is a very brutal one and the Police are nothing more than a criminal arm of a nasty Dictator ?

If the USA support Aliev, it means Aliev is OK with democracy. Because US are the owner of the brand under the name "Democracy" and American elite decides who is a democrat and who is a dictator on this planet. For example it's the known fact that House of Saud are the main democrats in the Middle East, while the Syrian president is the known dictator. So I suspect the hereditary president Aliev has got certain rights for use of the brand "Democracy" and now he can do everything he want. It's so democratic!

I do not know what suets have to do with their interests. But it is obviously Aliev is OK with democracy, as nobody is going to bomb Azerbaijan.

from what i have read sometimes ago on esc official site, a country does not necessarily have to be European but does have to belong to a EBU actually a broadcaster in a country has to belong to the EBU, rest of info can be found here though:http://www.eurovision.tv/page/about/which-countries-can-take-part

As for that even Morocco used to participate in the esc and not to mention Israel which isn't European including Georgia and Armenia.

Its neighbour Georgia is the founder of European civilization according to Saakashvili. Why Azerbaijan cannot be the European nation in this case?

    Song Contest tonight .
Great Party , particularly for Gays -- Colonel Hatpin , please note , and put on your pink dress .
Who will win ? Unfortunately the Balkan countries cheat as does Russia and most of the ex Soviet countries . Rotten cheats . Otherwise Spain and the UK would do well .
Our entry is 75 years old , classiest man and still a tip top voice .
The Russian entry is awful . So bad it will probably do OK . But when I say bad , I really mean effing awful .

All independent good judges had the UK entry easily best -- song and production and performance .
It came second to last .
That's all you actually need to know about this failed concept .
