Bernie Sanders released from hospital as doctors reveal he had a heart attack Doctors who treated Bernie Sanders revealed Friday that he suffered a heart attack earlier this week — as the Vermont senator was released from a Las Vegas hospital, a report said. The two doctors, Arturo E. Marchand Jr. and Arjun Gururaj, said in a statement that Sanders was treated for myocardial infarction — another name for a heart attack — when he was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, the New York Times reported. Sanders, 78, was in stable condition when he arrived at the hospital and doctors placed two stents into a blocked coronary artery, the doctors added in their statement. https://nypost.com/2019/10/04/berni...ital-as-doctors-reveal-he-had-a-heart-attack/
I am not going to trash the man even though he is a socialist and I am not in agreement with his politics.
It's a Big Deal. This hasn't happened before in presidentials, I understand. Even his own supporters are less likely to vote for him. Sanders is the equivalent of UK's Corbyn, in a crude manner of speaking.
He is but since we are by historical accident a two party system so an independent such as Bernie needs a party to caucus with so he caucuses with the Democrats even though he is not a registered Democrat. So Bernie becomes a registered Democrat once every for years in order to run for president. There is another independent Angus King who caucuses with the Republican Party. Sanders usually votes with the Democrats and King usually votes with the Republicans.
It's odd but there are Jewish antisemitism. Those Jews in Europe, who hated the very idea of being Jewish, died with the Jews in the pogroms, Crusades and holocausts. This helped forge a Jewish identity even among the less inclined.
I can only speak for Australia, but I suspect something similar is going on in USA. Our last election saw the left wing Labor Party lose. The conclusion of Labor, and everyone else, was that Labor wasn't appealing to its traditional base - the working class. Labor was taking on esoteric, hard left PC issues and alienating many. I wonder how many Americans vote Trump because of a similar phenomena?
He describes himself as a Democratic Socialist, but he may be closer to a social Democrat, I tend to believe that best describes his politics. I am glad he ran as a Dem, because I think he did a lot expose a new generation to those european ideas, and take the cold war stigma out of that 'socialist' label, that RWers have been bashing all of our candidates and policies with for most of a century. He helped remind us that there is a world of difference between a socialist and Barak Obama, or Clinton or Biden. That being said, Dems have a right to expect their standardbearer to be a LOYAL Democrat, to expect our candidate to hang tough with our party through thick and thin. Nobody else gets to ride in, ride out, ride back in, ride back out of our party, as the whims of ego and politics deem proper. You get to expect the loyalty, you give. Still he has served a long term value that will hopefully last after he dies. Socialist ideas can add to our national dialogue, and they should be a part of our conversation. That is Sanders real legacy, IMO.
I think he favors a lot of different models in which labor eventually gets a substantial share of the stock and thus has 'skin in the game' and a share in the decision-making on boards. A more equitable power sharing model than the current top down business model. It does blur the lines in the typical union/management adversarial dynamic if the union shares the responsibilities and risks of partial ownership, You can label that however you like,
Yes he did. Same happened to me I had 1 stent. It takes time to recoop. He may get lucky and resume his level of energy.. But , many are tired and unable to do the same level of activity. Women don't experience the same signs and symptoms and fair better. He is lucky he recognized something is wrong because men often have massive heart attacks.
Got that right he is a Congressional lifer. Running as a Democrat because if he ran as a third Party Socialist he would never win. I think and have always thought he was a nut that needed to move to a Socialist Country. He doesn't belong in our political system.
Not only a gummint lifer, he never earned a steady paycheck until he was in his 40s. We are so lucky we got Trump instead.
