I should have remembered my previous discussions with you; you never give up, and your opinionated interpretations of reality lead us on a never-ending road to nowhere.

You and I are direct opposites. I'm generous with my money, but consider my time too valuable to waste on meandering discussions.

Well it seems pretty selfish of you to go around destroying community cohesion just so you can see colorful costumes and eat exotic food.

Go live in NYC if you want to live in a polyglot hell. Leave my whitebread community alone.

I have no desire or interest in corrupting your "whitebread" community with my presence. Frankly, it sounds limiting & boring. :(

It is limiting only if you limit yourself. We have musical events, theatrical events, town parties, block parties, and a decent library. What more do you want?

You do have to drive pretty far to find decent Chinese food and you lack the excitement of being a potential crime victim. it's true.

I lived much of my younger life in diverse communities and when I moved in middle age to a homogeneous community I was very wary. I thought all those friendly people I kept meeting were out to cheat me in some way, it was just not normal. It took months before I realized people could be helpful and friendly without an angle.

I've lived in both types of communities, and found that both have elements that are selfish & self-serving & make bad neighbors or worse. But the majority in both are pretty descent people. Where I live now has adequate racial diversity, a great library, foods from around the world, and a lot of creative, artistic types--a lovely place and a great place to live.

I am glad you like where you live, but Prof. Putnam has found that diversity is bad for community which accords with my experience.
