You think former Presidents have no. Persuasive power? As to alternative media, that is highly likely.

Why not? Redding is a beautiful place. We have a very nice exurb/small city. Nice parks and trail system, great schools, lots of activities for kids, very good hospitals, 300 days of sunshine 40” of rain each year. A big River running through the center of town, surrounded by beauty. Mountains, foothills, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, National forests, state and national parks nearby. https://stories.opengov.com/reddingca/published/a_qtgRiSX

Why I said it should be public policy to encourage business to move to smaller communities.
You don't have to grow up and live in the country to want to live there.
Who lives in the country may change over time, but I have a lot of hope for smaller communities if we take a second look at their viability. Several years ago, a friend bought a 1600 sq. ft. manufactured home that looks like a house, not a double wide, for $100,000. She owned a serviced lot and ended up a new home she could afford.
We're transitioning away from coal to less expensive natural gas. Jobs will be lost. As well, automation in coal production costs jobs. What we do for people impacted negatively is what counts.
What "cures" are you talking about? Capturing CO2?

I lived in Napa and there's no way they want to be part of your state. Ditto for my in-laws who still live in Sonoma.

Napa is nicer and has a superior climate. Sonoma, too.

Asinine CANARD since I DID quote that part of your post about outside of the US!

The cost of OPERATING and MAINTAINING coal fired power plants OUTSTRIPS the cost of implementing RENEWABLE energy alternatives worldwide.

There are MANY nations outside of the US that are SUCCESSFULLY implementing RENEWABLE energy.

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/267233/renewable-energy-capacity-worldwide-by-country/

    https://www.irena.org/Statistics/View-Data-by-Topic/Capacity-and-Generation/Country-Rankings

The only thing that that is SLOWING the switchover in less developed nations is the CAPITAL funding. It is actually in their best interests to switch over to RENEABLES because they have abundant solar resources and NOT having to IMPORT fossil fuels would BOOST their economies. Coal actually HINDERS their economies. They would all be BETTER OFF if they switched over sooner rather than later.

Your bovine excrement allegation that RENEWABLES are NOT reliable is just you "shoveling" more of your own "shyte" that you CANNOT substantiate with even an attempt at a credible source.

    Sad!

Here are the UNDENIABLE FACTS regarding the RELIABILITY of renewable energy.

Yes, I'm familiar with the movement. It makes local news here every decade or so. The idea that northern California can be politically separate from southern California along an arbitrary line is what I find fault with. California is a diverse state. If you really want to divide people, everything east of the Sierra from Susanville to Bishop would be part of Nevada, running through Truckee on the summit. The central valley would be united and sovereign. The southern desert would be part of Arizona, and San Diego would become an island of urban conservatism in a sea of coastal progressivism.

That leaves the coastal liberals from Laguna Beach to somewhere south of Fort Bragg, and your rural neighbors up north. It's been a couple years, but last time I was in Eureka, the folk seemed more like Oregonians than Californians. Great folk, but that's not my point.

The point is that California's boundaries were drawn long ago. Indeed, your map is from 1940. I'll say it again, California is a diverse state. Huge in area and population. I don't know what it was like in 1940, but today, you'd be better served uniting the central valley against the rest of the state. Probably the most agriculturally productive land on earth. Maybe the Nile Valley... It's up there either way. Redding and Bakersfield could serve as co-capitals. The Sundial Bridge would actually make sense...nah...I don't get that one. Especially in the middle of the day in August. Lol.

    I agree!

Reagan circa 2000 would have really identified with Joe.

FYI for those who have not seen it there was a video on Netflix called "Bill Gate's brain". Not bad. He and his wife had a 10 year obsession with helping Africans with their waste management problems.

Seems that too many African kids were getting e coli infections because the community they lived in did not adequately remove and treat waste.(Poop!) Since a full modern(Rome?) sewage system was not feasible Bill commissioned inventors to come up with toilets that could treat the waste.

I guess that makes Bill and his wife infectious disease experts. And great humanitarians!

110 degrees and high humidity. It's horrid in the summer. It is a pretty town, very scenic, but worst weather in the state.

My map is not from 1940. The Present Jefferson movement includes the yellow counties except Humboldt. It is larger than the 1940 version. I expect more counties to join the effort. Alpine is opposed so we will leave them in Ca. Some Oregon counties are involved in Jefferson as well. Oregon has its own effort which is also good and requires far less change at the federal level. It’s called greater Idaho. Most of the rural counties of Oregon along with seven California counties, Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, and Tehama would merge with Idaho. No additional states, no new senators to add. No change to the partisan make up of the House. Just one Ca. and one Oregon Republican would become Idaho Republicans instead. I support this newer more recent effort. I’d be. Citizen of Idaho without having to move. As to the Sundial bridge that anchors our arboretum, botanical gardens, turtle bay museum, river trail system, and civic center where the river runs and bends from east to south in our downtown, it is an architectural masterpiece by Spanish architect Calatrava that actually is a functional sundial. Have you been to it?

Actually our summer is dry heat, little to virtually no humidity except when it gets overcast and a rare summer thunder storm rolls through. We are more like Phoenix or Las Vegas than a humid spot. If we were humid we wouldn’t have swamp coolers substituting for air conditioning in so many homes in our area. Including mine until I remodeled and reroofed it in 2005.

This was just the opening official salvo. Tons more will follow. As your OP said Biden and the Democrats (and the left and progressives) are not at all interested in unity. They are only interested in capitulation and will seek retribution and purge anyone who does not capitulate to this tyranny all they can.

You basically supported what I've been saying. And of course I've been to the Sundial. How else would I know what it's like on a 100 degree August afternoon. I think it's an eyesore. We thought it served some purpose, like telling time or something. Just a monstrosity. Good for pilots, though.

That's not true in the least. I live in a dry climate. Redding is not dry by any stretch. Someone from the Gulf Coast would think it's dry. Nobody from Nevada does.
