I don't fault Obama or Trump for building and using them. It beat the alternative of housing them with adults that could hurt them. Remember it was a period of huge migration that was taxing our system where to put them. Catch and release and open borders is not the answer.

Don't you think we have enough low income people and people struggling day to day without sending money out of the country? It never made sense to me why we avoid helping our own people first to eradicate poverty. We rebuild other nations and waste money on places like Porta Rico and Guam. We need to set them free to govern themselves.

Without the USA helping out, Puerto Rico and Guam wouldn't have a chance to survive. Or maybe they might be able to.

This is the most applicable thread I can find to comment that I heard part of President Biden's first foreign policy address, this afternoon. Though he hadn't been my pick for the Democratic nominee, my confidence in him, as having been a good choice, continues to build. He emphasized the ideas of cooperation & unity-- already becoming emblematic themes of the new President's speeches-- with our allies, in today's speech. Headlining the speech was Biden's calling for an end to the military coup in Burma, saying that we are working with our allies to develop options to put some muscle into this, "request." It would be fascinating to see the int'l community be able to put any significant pressure, or exert real diplomatic influence, on this situation. It will be a true challenge, but one which, of course, will have no relevance in American voters' impressions of Biden's Administration.

More relevant to that impression will be Biden's posture regarding Iran & the conjoined concerns with Saudi Arabia. President Biden stated, in no uncertain terms, the need for a diplomatic solution in Yemen, saying that we were ending any U.S. support of Saudi action there, and were endeavoring to facilitate a resolution to the tragic circumstance. He also pledged support for the safety & defense of Saudi Arabia from attacks by Iran & its proxies.

A co-headlining issue in the speech was our extension of the lone remaining nuclear weapons-limiting agreement we have with Russia.
Biden also announced the creation of a new, elevated post, an Undersecretary of Defense for Cyber & Emerging Technologies.

The only other point I heard him cover was to make it clear that, among his, & our nation's, abiding principles, is a belief in the importance of a free press. This was obviously directed at rebuilding bridges with our own news media, but also is applicable to many other states around the world: Biden made it clear our goal is to, once more, be an example of the things we encourage for other nations.

It seems hard to find flaw with any of the speech, at least, that I heard. For those, though, who only are interested in pointing to faults, Mr. Biden did have some trouble with the word, "transformational," pronouncing it, "transforminal," twice, before just moving on. Would that those obstacles to successfully transforming our stumbling diplomatic efforts of recent years were that that easy to get past. But our new President seems to be making an earnest attempt, coming strongly out of the gate.

Stopping the support for war in Yemen sounds like the opposite of world policing. The Congress actually voted to ban supporting Saudis in the war, but Trump insisted we continue and vetoed the Congress decision and continued supporting it.

It's been long enough. I'm not wearing a mask for the rest of my life. American Indians socially distanced from Europe and Asia for hundreds of years. How did that work out for them?

Is there an impeachment going on? Or is it another one of those conspiracy lynching that the Democrats like to put on every now and then? Beware of the boogie man.

The ones that think masks actually stop viruses are in denial of mask engineering specs.

Indeed. First on the docket is remembering who he is.
