I always stand by what I post. I would point out that I never said it should be required, I am just sad that it is no longer that way. Used to be that was common place, heck not going back that far they just did voice votes even.

This commission is clearly meant to show the Democrats displeasure at Republicans giving 3 Supreme Court seats to the T**** admin when in history no other president would have received more than one under the same set of circumstances. Perhaps, had T**** named middle of the road jurists such as Obama offered in Garland for his two supplemental candidates there may have been no repercussions but no, he had to go full boat, young, far right.

I don't believe they'll change the number of justices but they are raising questions about a process that permitted such actions. The truly best scenario would be for this commission to not change the number of justices but to make a more standardized process of selecting and for goodness sake go back to requiring 60 votes to pass to keep the very, very marginal off the court.

Breyer and Thomas should retire, 30 years as a justice is too long. That would swing the court to 5-4 Republican appointees but one of them is becoming a swing vote. I can live with that and I truly doubt Biden is planning on naming radicals but still 60 votes to be sure.

 

Thanks for avoiding what I posted. So what's the commission going to do then. Have all these meetings and get paid all this money and then all go home? The purpose is to expand the court and have the executive branch tell the SCOTUS how they should conduct their business. Where does Biden get off thinking that is the role of the Executive Branch and President?

Had you objected when T**** was throwing them out like candy, some of which the courts blocked, then you'd have a say now. Interesting concept, T**** makes a series of many executive orders, several overturned by the courts, and you find it apparently evil for Biden to use the same system to undo those very orders.
