The people who support Trump and Putin would love to have a fascist government, as long as they are on the government side.

 

There are several of them.

1- Putin invaded Crimea to assert his authority in the region, to give his country a strategic advantage on the Black Sea maritime traffic and to reassure the Russian-speaking populations present in the limithropic countries around Russia.

This has the effect of diminishing the influence of the US who have been trying for a long time to make these nations join NATO.

2- Russia is the main exporter of gas (Gazprom) to Europe, which is a captive customer. Putin uses Gazprom as a political instrument to get closer to several European countries and thus weaken NATO.

3- Putin has been getting very close to China for 15 years. The two nations have been conducting joint military exercises and have begun talks to sign a military treaty of mutual assistance.

4- Since the Northern Passage is open 8 months a year, Russia has increased its naval presence in the Arctic to control maritime traffic.

5- Putin wants Ukraine to become a Russian protectorate again, which would also weaken NATO's ascendancy in Europe.

In the end, to claim that Putin is inofensive to the US is an incredible demonstration of ignorance of geostrategic issues in the world.

Way to try and re-write history. The first debate had no winners it was a total **** show and all but the most bull headed partisans agree there was no way to gauge performance when both participants spent the entire time yelling over each other. The second debate didn't take place but it was then-candidate Biden that ultimately squashed it by both refusing to honor the DNC's original contract for a live, in person debate and the Trump campaigns offer to postpone. The third debate objectively went to Pres Trump who offered up more concise answers and remained on topic when hit with questions designed to favor his opponent as opposed to Biden who babbled and pivoted to passages from his stump speeches when he was hit with similar spikes.

 

You know, we’re all sort of a family on this board and family often speaks bluntly to each other, but you’ve taken two personal shots at Apex and I don’t know why. Do the two of you have a relationship we don’t know about? If so, I can I can understand your comments. Post debate polls showed that Biden won both. Trump contracted Covid by attending one of his super spreader events after the first one then declined to take part in a virtual debate that the debate commission designed. The second debate was clearly won by Biden....The emails, the emails those terrible terrible emails....Trump made a total jackass of himself both times. That’s why he got his ass beat in the election.

 

You cannot do anything to my argument by repeating your own personal opinion about pressers 10 times in a row. In the end it is your opinion based upon nothing more this your personal view of Biden.

So if Biden can take on Trump and win then why won’t he take on Putin?

 

Wait so the media dedicated to Biden winning produced polls that showed he won the debates? /gasp You don't say! Well right there is how you can how full of **** they are because there was no winner in that first debate, none, it was literally nothing more than two angry children yelling over each other. So if anyone tries to tell you that first debate had a winner, any winner, you instantly know they are just a hyper-partisan incapable of objectivity.

Now as far as the second debate cancellation, keep in mind that these candidates enter into contracts for these debates. Pres Trump was under no obligation whatsoever to alter the format once the contract was agreed to by both parties. The most logical thing to do to preserve that agreement would have been to simply postpone the debate until Pres Trump tested negative, which was what the Trump campaign offered. It was the Biden campaign, and the DNC, that rejected that. He forfeited the second debate.

Your assessment of the debate is correct. But I would add that Biden won because for months Trump had painted him as weak and frail, but Biden stood toe to toe with Trump.
This destroyed the narrative Trump had been building for months

I'm sure Putin is a killer. I don't like the man but see no problems in having good relations with Russia. We don't need another cold war.
