New York City recently elected its first Democratic mayor in nearly two decades, Bill de blasio. He ran as a progressive against Lhota and promised to promote the ideals of liberalism in the city. Some think, however, that he is a bit too liberal even for the democrats. Some even think he is even farther left-wing as many speculate he believes in the redistribution of wealth. He's a pragmatist, and a liberal. I expect his policies will fall center-left, considering how embedded he is with real estate interests. He's certainly not some "socialist" as the Republicans have made him out to be.
