I am a skrawny bag bones with poor stamina and awful agility who prefers the couch over the gym. However, if I started working on my, say, speed today, I would have a huge advantage to female with a similar level of athletisism and background as I do.

Hogwash and completely false. The toughest event in the world for endurance and a man holds the record over a woman, who is almost 45 min. behind him.

The current Ironman Hawaii course record was set in 2017 by Patrick Lange (Germany), whose winning time was 8 hours 1 minutes 40 seconds. Daniela Ryf (Switzerland) set the women's course record in 2016 with a winning time of 8 hours 46 minutes 46 seconds.

The World Record is also set by a man: 7:45. A woman comes in at 8:26

Physically, men are better athletes than women. Otherwise, women would be in the NBA and the NFL and the MLB for that matter.

 

This event was divided based on age and gender.
It would be ok to have a non-gendered event but calling it a woman’s event and allowing a fully intact and functioning man into it makes as much sense as expecting a 100lb person to wrestle a 300lb person.

 

Men can generate force quicker since they are more explosive and have a larger motoric cortex. And I would believe men have larger lung capacity than women too and additionally, it is not as if cycling does not require muscles; you do know a cyclist uses his legs, right?

endurance is key in these sports, but yes, it also requires use of the brain, muscles, balance, but it is an endurance sport mainly

 

Why did you decide to bring in racial discrimination into this? We are not suggesting a racially segreted world of sports, but one that is segregated by gender, as has always been the case for obvious reasons. Putting a 100 lbs male boxer against a 100 lbs female boxer is pure sadism - The man would completely destroy her.

It is not like this is some sort of "just for fun" bike race organised by the city hall or one about charity. Neither is it one where the children of the neighbourhood race around the block. This was a professional competition with professional cyclists and allowing a man to compete against women breaks the principle of equality of oppurtunity that sports are built on. If you believe a man can compete against women, you would also have to believe that the same man can compete in the little girls' league, racing against 10 year olds. "It is just about enducarance" afterall.

The solution is simple and would really upset women, who say they are the equal to men. Have only one sport, i.e., golf. Not lady's golf and men's golf, just golf. All sexes compete together. The same with all, and I do mean ALL, sports and every other competition that are today separated by sex.

 

None of the women would beat any of the men. If you wish to never see a medal around a female neck again, then sure.

 

But what about all the women who aren't deluded?

 

And combine all the boxing weight classes and make women compete with guys like Manny Pacquiao.

I do not disagree, the bike race was designed to discriminated based on gender, the design was not followed

if would be like a race designed to discriminate based on race (must be white) and a black player won the race... is the black player better then the white players or did he cheat and should be shunned as the rules only allowed white players
