Agreed, but the reality is that they do wield quite a bit of political power. I don't think they can be ignored completely, but these demands surely can. I don't know which route Biden will take, but the issue of policing can be addressed within each community independently without BLM's input. The group has its 1st Amendment rights, which I support, and like you, I fully support the message. But yes, it's an extreme group politically, and should be treated as such. I hope Biden keeps them at a distance.
Happens on both sides, the religious right, white nationalists in the Trump admin's case the black vote is a powerful voting block now, Obama made them realize their vote counted, many forgot in 2016, but Trump helped them remember, and we won 2020
If cities burn it will be blamed on Trump. Any and all Biden failures will be blamed on Trump. Question: Why didn't you get [insert Biden promise] done Joe? Answer: Trump Someone should make and sell a Biden pull string doll. Pull the string and the doll bleats "Trump. But Trump...", "black lives matter", "climate change is real", "Cornpop", "dog face pony soldier" "racial jungle", you know, the thing".......
Oh they'll get money there's no doubt there. Somehow through some fund, or grant, or pilot program, or "study", they'll mange to be put in control of a few hundred million dollars. It will have the usual lack of oversight and the senior players will manage to put a considerable portion of it into their own pockets or companies. Friends of the administration will probably be placed into the ranks as payback for campaign donations. In the end nothing comes of it other than the typical redistribution of tax payer dollars by the ruling class, this is just how government works in America, sadly. And come mid-terms, you mark my words Danny, BLM will be back on the streets looting and setting fires because contrary to the old attage, you can always run the same con twice (thrice, quadrice, quintrice...)
Totally agree on the black vote, but overall, the black vote is much more conservative politically than BLM. BLM has a big following because of its message, which I agree with, but we see here their true ambitions are political.
Biden will show empathy and not attack black football players for protesting police abuse, ect.... little things Trump could have done too, but Trump lacks empathy
I'm afraid your fantasy will not come true. The word "Trump" will not be heard coming from the White House for at least four years.
oh I agree, but that is like saying all Christians are like the Religious right, but the right still caters to the religious right, as the religious right is a powerful group on the right the younger crowd support Bernie and the older crowd support Biden

Bottom Line: Biden should NOT take the Meeting. If he "alienates" BLM, so what? What are they gonna do? Vote for the "Other One". It is a Binary Choice, and BLM won't desert Biden. But, taking the meeting it is too risky politically. Once again, It would be a bad look and alienate Moderate swing voters.
Stacey Abrams’ Legacy: A Democratic South? Stacey Abrams Spearheads 'Fair Fight,' A Campaign Against Voter Suppression Stacey Abrams helps raise $3.6m in two days for crucial Georgia Senate runoffs How Stacey Abrams helped get out the Black vote in Georgia She's a busy woman. I only recently became aware of Abrams, and it's not like I follow her, but I'm mildly impressed. Great work ethic. Smart. I think she has a future.
Agree strongly. I don't think Biden will meet with anybody outside of government. BLM is requesting the equivalent of a White House visit, and I'm certain that's their intended message. No deal. BLM needs to go home and wait, like everyone else.
She has one thing in common with Trump, she wont concede, except even after there's no doubt, 2 years later. And they say Trump is sowing distrust in elections, his process is not done yet. She brought out the black panther vote. Poser on the left has backwards optics, lol. Oh the irony, she vowed to ban the very guns several hold.
Not sure how you define "modern Democrats", BUT the people who Elected Biden were NOT The AOC/Bernie Wing. It was the Obama/Bill Clinton Wing.
That's true, but the increase in turnout for Biden surpassed Trump's percentage gains. Lots of blacks stayed home in 2016 in the places Trump won, and came out in big numbers this time in those same places; mostly Democratic urban centers like Philly, Detroit and Milwaukee. (Heard, not verified) Biden won Georgia with 29% of the white vote.
Hell, it was the Colin Powell, George Bush, Tom Ridge, Cindy McCain, John Kasich, George Will, Bill Kristol, Lincoln Project Wing of the Democratic Party.
I think Biden is going to impress. That short list of prominent Republicans didn't endorse Joe because he's a kiddie-grabbin', hair sniffin', demented secret billionaire. They endorsed him because they know him. Some know him well. One would think a true Republican would trust these honorable people's opinions on Joe Biden rather than Rudy Giuliani and Trump. When you get past the dementia nonsense, realize Joe Biden's strongpoint has never been public speaking, and rid your mind of Chinese Billions, what you begin to see is that Biden and Harris are actually working. They're much smarter than Trump; they'll be fine, even with Trump's scorched earth tantrum. Biden's strength is pragmatism. I don't care if he flubs a sentence or stutters once in awhile. I'm confident that behind the scenes will run like a Swiss watch. Biden and Harris are alpha swamp creatures. Lol. That's exactly what we need right now...professionals. Being adults also, is a bonus.
Will you at least concede that is ancient history? I don't think anybody cares about that. The links I presented are what she's involved in now. That's what people care about. She can rightfully be credited with turning Georgia blue. She's a great fundraiser. She's a tireless campaigner, and just a machine with her get out the vote initiatives. Pretty impressive. I don't know if she was a sore loser or had reason to not concede. Nor do I care. I don't see the relevance to her current performance.
No, that is dumb politics. BLM has some rhetorical purchase with an element of the Dem base, so it can't just be shrugged off. Even people who may not support actions or policies pushed by BLM activists may still support the issues that brought them to the streets. What Biden & Harris need to do is find some common ground with some BLM figures on police reform & retraining. This will actually get some support from within police forces too. the 'Defund' idea was always poorly expressed & thought out, so ditching the broad idea in favour of some useful specifics will work. There are enough possibilities here that the 'I think too many black men get shot but protesting is too much hard work' part of BLM's supporter base, ie. the vast majority of it, will feel like something has been done. BLM isn't a particularly cohesive movement, so there are some figures who will be amenable to concrete, funded action that has Presidential support. There will also be some who will not be happy with anything any real world US Administration is ever going to do. GOP supporters will make at least as much noise about this as BLM supporters, if not more.
