BS....they wanted the shutdown in a bad way to discredit Trump. Anybody but a fool could see that. In the end, Trump never veto'ed any bill, so in reality, he never shutdown the Government. The House and Senate never presented anything for him to sign and they are the ones that shut down the Government.

Checkmate does not apply because you seem to only be able to play checkers.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday laid out the terms for taking up legislation to end the current government shutdown, saying his Republican-dominated chamber would not consider any bill President Donald Trump would refuse to sign.

“Let me say it again: The Senate will not take up any proposal that does not have a real chance of passing this chamber and getting a presidential signature,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Believe me, I understand why McConnell did not send a bill to Trump.....that is why I am not really giving Trump a pass. He was up to his neck in responsibility for the shutdown.....but so were the Democrats and the Republicans, especially McConnell. I'm an equal opportunity blame spreader.

Because it is too simplistic of an understanding for the way government actually works.
