The modern world is made by ideologies, not men and the main one is Capitalism. The men you mention are reactionaries who wanted to reimpose the system of nobility/monarchy that was overthrown in the 19thc, Conservatives as they exist now are just another variant of that. Capitalism remains an Unknown Ideal and that may be for the best.
So the founders of the major communist states are now reactionaries. I would say that the imperialist big government is creating a new group of royalty which will have near total control over the people. This is why I call “progressives” because they are taking us back to the days when kings, queens, emperors and dictators had absolute power. Tomorrows liberals are today's conservatives. The world always progresses forward and the conservative concern today will mean next to nothing in 30 yrs. See women's rights to vote. Interracial marriages. Both big time no no issues for conservatives. Today, not given a thought. Gay marriage is now the new issue that conservatives today think is wrong, in another 15 yrs, it will largely be an after thought.

How is gerrymandering districts, claiming elections they lose are because of massive fraud, trying to get courts to agree with fraud(no evidence ever presented), and holding rally(s) to stop the democratic process for the peaceful transition of power, supporting democracy and rights of the political minorities. The R's of today want nothing more to never have the voters determine gov't ever again. They want the legislators to determine the legislators.
By "religion", I assume that you mean Christianity. Some Christians baptize infants, while others wait until the children are older (some don't get baptized until they are adults). Baptism is a holy ritual in which water, along with God's Word, is administered to a person. Different Christian denominations administer it different ways, but it is all ultimately a representation of how our "old Adam" sinful ways are drown and washed away by daily contrition and repentance.
Are christians the only religion in the world to baptize? Haven't researched that but I chose the word religion to encompass most all religions of the world who start teaching the religion to children at very young ages. In fact, most religious people are religious because that is how they grew up. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddah, Hindu, all have religion engrained into society almost from birth. . Which is likely why there's many wars thoughout human history over religion. It's deeply ingrained into one's psyche.
