Gee, you think Brazil's crime rate might have more to do with their teeming slums and less to do with any gun laws?
Then your question is rhetorical. To my knowledge, there are no country outside of the US with almost the same level of regulations as we do. It's like asking me to name an animal the exact same size, shape, color, and features of an elephant that isn't an elephant. Every other country has stricter gun laws than we do in some form or fashion. You might find an exception where a country has less regulations than California for example, but that's about it. But, to bring this topic back on point, Brazil's gun control failed to stop their violent crime. Now they are trying something different. We can only wait and see what happens.
That's an easy one.......... Michelle Obama. Certainly in the UK, crime has increased due to the Schengen Agreement and under funding of police due to Austerity. Put guns into the mix, that's crazy talk.
That is like saying the house is on fire and we have not been able to put it out so lets see what happens if we throw gas on it
Actually, forest firefighters often fight fires by starting fires of their own so your analogy isn't as crazy as it sounds even though you failed to provide evidence that allowing law abiding citizens to be armed creates more problems.
Probably more the issue of deterrence there, as in it's not working. I was thinking more of other causative factors in Brazilian society.
Maybe we should hand out guns to people getting out of prison.....unless you can prove that would be a problem
Some people can't be deterred even with death, like mass murderers and terrorists for example. They either don't care or think they'll be rewarded after death. Crime is always higher in countries with dysfunctional justice/police/governments and that's really what I meant by not fearing the consequences. If, for example, you'd like to know why there is so much murder in Chicago, all you have to do is look at the homicide clearance rate. They're literally committing murder and getting away with it easily.
If they paid their debt to society and were not arrested for violent crimes, they shoukd have their rights fully restored.
Absolutely. If after paying their debt to society they cannot be trusted with a gun then they should not be released from prison.
I never supported that. In fact I explicitly saud that if they haven't committed violent crimes and paid their debt to society, then they shoukd have their rights fully restored.
I hear a lot from Democrats they only want background checks. it has been many many years since I bought any gun with no background check. So why do they claim all they want is background checks? I hope that in my background check they verified I am not a felon nor a former felon.
