Very, very interesting read.. http://globalspin.blogs.time.com/2011/09/05/china-alleged-to-have-offered-arms-to-qaddafi/ To sum it all up, the article claims that a reporter working in Libya found a bunch of paperwork for an arms transfer from China to Libya. The rebels have authenticated these papers. We do not, however, know if the arms were actually delivered. The arms include: -Handheld SAMs(Surface to air missiles). -Truck-mounted rocket launchers. -Anti tank missiles. Why are we still trusting China with our debt especially if they are allying themselves with lunatic dictators like Qaddafi when we are one of the forces that are/have fought against him?
Exactly.. the offer to sell arms was several years ago. But, this claim seems to have some current propaganda value.
and? List for me the countries China DOESN'T sell weapons to. Welcome to big people world. Enjoy your stay.
yes. It's a lot easier to come up with a comprehensive list of countries China DOESN'T sell arms to than to list the myriad number of countries they DO sell arms to. If a country is run by a despotic dictator I just assume Russia and China have men on the ground.
not necessary, china/russia sell weapon to countries they have interest in. same with US. we sell weapons to iraq/afahan/china in 80's, saudi now.
China has our submarine technology (thanks Hillary Clinton), our missile technology (thanks Hillary Clinton), our stealth helicopter technology (thanks Pakistan), they supply the arms for the slaughter in Darfur. They hare no ally.... so them offering arms to Libya is of no surprise.
We have always sold weapons to the Saudis.. They are our oldest and most stable allies in the ME... since 1938..
My understanding is that its not beyond the technical capabilities of any number of countries to build a stealth helicopter. Its just there is only one country with a zany enough military budget to build one.
yea, but saudi are monarchy, they are not really a freedom loving country. i'm just saying country sell weapons to make money or they have interest in that country.
Why would this be a problem? Doesn't China have oil interests in Libya? Oh, indeed they do. So they sell arms to the leader of the country, sounds like a win/win for China.
It's not a problem. Or at least it's not in anyway surprising. The OP was just posting the usual PoliticalForum.com over the top pointless propaganda. And we are now all just beating up on him because in a sick way it makes us feel superior. Just your average Tuesday afternoon on PoliticalForum.com Ironically this is in his signature...
I don't doubt it, as it has already been established that China was shipping machetes to Rwanda before its genocide and tried to ship weapons to Zimbabwe during their highly contested 2002 election, making many people fear yet another genocide were the weapons to land. China is a dictatorship that supports other dictatorships. This should surpirse no one.
china sell weapon and invest in other country has nothing to do with dictatorship. it has everything to do with $$$ and their interest. if selling some weapons to a dictator allow china to gain access to their resource, they will do it. their foreign policy is non-interfering, as long it doesn't affect china's core interest.
