No one on the floor to be put down for the record. But they did vote for it in Conference. Otherwise there would have been a vote on the floor. How else did you think Ryan knew he didn't have the votes?

Yes. They proudly said that for seven years.
What do you mean IF PASSED? He pulled the vote ONLY because he knew the Republicans couldn't pass it.

    Especially for the Freedom Caucus.

I didn't try to worm my way out of anything. Don't blame me because your reading comprehension skills are nonexistent.

Just imagine if democrats had been more concerned with improving healthcare rather than being able to claim they passed healthcare. They knew it was so bad they bribed members of congress to vote for it and still couldn't get bipartisan support. If Dems really cared about bipartisanship we wouldn't be where we are. But don't worry republicans care more about power than bipartisan too.

How many democrats that rammed Obamacare down our throats do you think actually read the thing?

The real winners here are the Senate Republicans. Now they don't have to expose themselves by arguing for "their" version of a health bill.

There are fixes the dems would support but the GOP wouldn't allow any democratic input

Divided government is the best government, it forces them to work together or get nothing done. One party rule leads to bad laws.

The only thing anyone will remember is the Obamacare bill that's about to make balloon payments look like small change.

From what I heard: Despite all his bluster about ACA being repealed on day one, Trump did not want to do health care first. Ryan, Pence and Priebus talked him into it. Of course, that could just be something Trump staffers leaked to cover his a$$.

But. The bill was defeated because the ultra right wing Freedom Caucus members thought it didn't go far enough.

IOW The moderates wanted to screw ACA supporters. The Freedom Caucus members wanted to REALLY screw the ACA supporters.

The Dems own Obamacare. That's what Americans will be paying for. This is serious Trump ammunition.

    Yep.
The 24 million who would have had no insurance if RepubliCare passed are especially thrilled.
The people who depend on the expanded Medicare and would have lost it if RepubliCare passed are especially thrilled.

The good news is when Obama Care hits the ground with a splat, it's all back on Pelosi and Schumer's shoulders.

Yes, I'm sure Americans will have a fuzzy feeling inside because they can't pay for their Obamacare premiums and feed their children at the same time. Very forward-thinking you people are.

The thing that gets me is the plan now.

    Just do nothing.

It should be fixed. The ACA was a step in the right direction in trying to get affordable healthcare for everyone. It has problems that needs to be addressed.

So what Trump is saying what is good for this country now is to give up and just let the ACA fail. How about his plan? I remember him saying he had one.

I am also pretty sure the Republican plan was just to repeal and not replace. If it was not they would have had a plan in place already that was not just something that looked like one.

There are several reasons Republicans did not want to support this.

The ones from states that did not reject medicaid expansion want to get reelected. Their low income voters have health insurance and do not want to give it up.

The others want a full repeal and no replacement. So go back to the time of just going to the emergency room and figure out how to pay or avoid paying the bill.

Weird how other countries can have affordable healthcare but in the US it is not possible.

By next year thy won't have it anyway. Obama Care is on the 4th spiral of a 5 spiral crash. The Republicans are under no obligation to fix it.

Weird how those countries make you wait months on end for what we get in a few weeks.

I think Trump, like the rest of us, took for granted that the GOP had a replacement, prior to the election, as they claimed, so "repeal & replace" became a campaign mantra. Trump, undoubtedly thought that because Cruz, Paul, Carson, had all drafted plans, it was only a matter of having to choose one. Divisions in the party have made garnering a consensus impossible. Trump may be left to fix ACA with the help of Dems. No easy choices politically speaking, for anyone. Trump is embarrassed, the Dems want to save ACA, but work with Trump? The GOP wants out entirely, but need to prove they're capable of governance. Reps on both sides will have to put it all on the line to fix health care. Stressful times.
