    "We" aren't.

They are. The same people who have always believed in dancing to the EU tune are still dancing to the EU tune.

Still trying to force their rule on us. Still refusing to represent us.

The EU doesn't know it's arse from it's elbow. It has no tune to dance to. Only a cacophony of disparate voices.
The tune Westminster is dancing to is Theresa May's tune. And she wants us in.

    At any cost I expect.

We can no longer afford to be misdirected by "the EU".
The responsibility lies at home. Here.
The problems are with our own government and it is they who must be brought to heel.

Yep, she was a Remainer then and still is now, only she's working behind the scenes: she seems to be very friendly with Juncker and Tusk - too friendly!

What she wants is the magic solution, to appear to have left, but still be in.
To have her cake and eat it.

Or better yet not to leave at all.

They love the negotiating you see.
The world stage with them at the centre.

The deal they get is not the point, the point is only that a deal cannot be made without them.
That they are important people in the world. World leaders.

War is coming. After Chamberlain comes Churchill.

Well something is coming, that's for sure; too much weird stuff going on. But it hope it isn't war.

It's like Vince Cable predicting a financial crash.

There will be one. It's when not if.
If I predict it every day, one day I will be correct.

Frankly however, I do feel the Cold War was a safer time. Way less upheaval.

In the end I feel if democracy is not being respected, then we return to "other means" for regime change.

I would hence much rather see democracy be respected.
It's to my mind a largely illusory conceit that we are ruled democratically in the first place.
My vote is essentially meaningless. I vote for a guy who has little power to influence government policy and my vote has no recognisable influence in his own voting pattern. And indeed I am asked to vote on a myriad of issues all at the same time so that I am never able to hold my representative to account on any specific issue I care about enough to vote for.

    Pap for the masses.

A pointless waste of anybodies time and effort.
    An exercise in self deceit.

I voted for the first time in the EU referendum.
You see, much as I don't believe in democracy, I really really want to.

Let the illusion continue. Let politicians live without fear of murder in the street.
Let them retire gracefully. Alive and with their families alive.

It is an illusion, a conceit, that their very lives depend on.
    I believe this.

But the referendum has happened now. It's out in the open that our democracy is broken.
    The illusion has been shattered.

If it is not to be restored, then war is assured. It can end no other way.

Fight or flight. To stay here or to leave. Circumstances will decide which I choose when the time comes.
Had the referendum have gone the other way, I would already be a Japanese by now

And he's been 'dining out' on it ever since. A typical example of ' . . . and some have greatness thrust upon them.'

What's more amusing is how ignorant right winger brexiteers really are. We had to pay for our commitments? Bleedin obvious to the rest of us, but I suppose once you believe the "that money will go to the NHS" bus bobbins you'll believe anything...

We're not as 'ignorant' as you think, mate, we're just more thoughtful. We've tried to accommodate Brussels above and beyond the call of ethics, but they in their arrogance and greed have always demanded more. In other words we've done our bit to be fair but it is never enough for them - especially where the leaving payment is concerned - so now's the time to say '**** the lot of you!' and just go! I can't believe how this appalling government is kowtowing to their every whim - where's our legendary Bulldog Spirit - which makes me suspect there's much more to this than meets the eye. And see how the cunning Tusk has latched on to the Irish border question? So unless we get our act together, and realise they're not nor ever have been our 'partners', this Brexit fiasco could still be running in 2 decades time - which of course would please all those who are coining it big-time in the meanwhile? [IMG] Maybe you're one of them??

I fully expect this fiasco to keep running as long as EU does.

The deal these guys seek is deal on financial services. Same deal they've always been after.
Same carrot being dangled on the same stick.

They will never get it, no country will make a free trade deal with us on services for as long as we remain globally dominant in it.

Not been following Brexit but apparently there is a possibility NI may stay in the Single Market and Customs Union.

and then Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, County Durham and then of course Scotland too.

    No shocks there.
Nowhere in the UK is more loyal to it than NI.

She had to keep the government in power.

She had to keep herself in power.

She is in the unhappy position of not being able to rule and get her own way.
    Brexit and I hate it.

Also I think all UK branches of Paddy Power will be designated as EU Free Trade Zones... I think they may also be able to issue visas from their betting machines so that you can legally enter them...
This could also be run out for all pubs in the UK selling Guiness...I was wondering if you would need an export license before you went to the bog for a pee?

So you knew that (1) There wouldn't be more money going to the NHS; and (2) Under a Hard Brexit you would actually be worse off.

Sorry, didn't realise you knew that!

Gives a **** about Paddy Power, pardon my French.

Paddy Power just go away. Coral/William Hill, nobody needs Paddy Power anyway.
Coral and William Hill is where losers who can't find a job spend all day gambling and smoking cigarettes.

Yes, and it cost us £1b for her to stay in power by bribing the DUP to come on-side - who promptly let her down two days ago, but miraculously were back on-side again this very morning.
[IMG] I presume that the DUP handbrake u-turn hasn't cost us another £1b?? Still who cares - it's only taxpayer pounds after all.

We had to pay for "their" commitments.
    "We" made no commitments.

I have no commitment to the EU at all.
    None.

It is true that the money spent at the EU could like the bus said be spent on the NHS. Will it be?
    Yes and no.
The NHS will doubtless raise its bill by that amount.
Will politicians seek to ear mark all EU spending for the NHS. I doubt it.

Nor will they use it to reduce government spending.
Pat yourself on the back for having worked that out all by yourself, well done you.

Will I be poorer for leaving the EU?
Was I the richer for having joined? I don't remember that part.

That's a cerebral response isn't it! Shall we assume that you knew (1) and didn't know (2)? I like to give some credit!
