I do, it is an incentive that an individual or entity can apply to their end of year filings to lower their taxable income. That would mean after the tax credit the cost of the vehicle would decrease and not increase to the end user.

Thus that 55,000 car would not become 60,000 — it would become 50,000 should the credit be 5,000.

End of year filings? It is not a write off!

    It is a hand out!

Actually lots of that was predicted to come. Meeting all our power needs from wind and solar...........nope............nuclear if we go electric for everything the only feasible way. The near and moderate future will also include fossil fuels, time the Biden administration admitted it.

And I asked you previously are you with the TVA for your electricity?

Ok. Did you have a point?

Do you oppose tax credits in principle or just for things you disagree with?

It wouldn't be a individual tax credit to the buyer to start with! It would be a corporate right off for the sellers on SELECT model.. You OK with corporate welfare now?

First, it's a nice car. I don't buy cars based on any political leanings. Maintenance costs have been approx. $700.00/annually. There is no maintenance-free vehicle in existence. I am all against mandating everyone buy electric, but I can't seem to understand your utter hatred for them. We have come a long way with them, and they have a future in our society. You are being unreasonable.

Side note: I drove an LP truck I bought at an auction for a while. It was pretty cool except for the smell.

Try again because I don't hate inanimate objects.

I simply ridicule electric vehicles because they are very much unfeasible at the current time for the majority of humanity. Less than 1% of vehicle on the road are electric vehicles. And they're being asked not to charge their vehicles at certain times to avoid putting a strain on the power grid.

Could you imagine if 20% of the vehicles on the road were electric?

TVA has little renewable as I posted before coal, hydro, NG and nuclear.

    TVA’s Generating Assets Today
5 fossil plants (25 active units)
    3 nuclear plants (7 units)
    29 hydro plants (109 units)
1 pumped storage hydroelectric plant (4 units)
9 natural gas combustion turbine gas plants (87 units)
8 natural gas combined cycle gas plants (14 power blocks, 35 units [21 gas turbines, 14 steam turbines])
1 diesel generator site (5 units)
    14 solar energy sites
    1 wind energy site

I'm against just handing somebody thousands of dollars so they can buy a certain car. Why not just give poor people $5000 to buy any car they want? It is a hand out for the affluent.

Yep Texas asking people not to charge them between 3pm and 8pm. That's 5 hours of missed charging. How long before that catches up with drivers and they can't use their cars?

And when "asking" doesn't work what then?

I think what he is trying to say is that the administration is going to try making the price of gas so high that people will want to buy electric cars. Screw the poor who have to pay the higher gas prices.

Are you getting the miles per charge they said you would? I’m hearing stories about the miles per charge being overly optimistic.

We only get about 20% of our total power from the TVA and live between two hydroelectric dams.

If our energy grid was as diverse as the TVA we would be better off. Especially places with major power issues like CA and TX

No. I support tax credits for items that advance us as a society and abhor them when they are used to line the pockets of the wealthy and well connected.

When new yes, typically. There are a ton of factors such as how hot or cold it is as well as how much throttle you are giving it.

It is definitely down from new but Tesla releases a new OTA update occasionally that will sometimes add a few miles back. Overall we can get around 280 miles for a full charge but we limit it to 85% to protect the battery.

I'm not pretending to be an expert on this but tell me if I am understanding the situation.

Even with today's small percentage of electric cars it is still a problem to manage when these vehicles charge because they could over load the system and people could be dying of heat stroke when their air conditioning shuts down? I guess Americans are not human.

When asked about this issue smug [IMG] Pete tells us that the only solution is for us to give more money and power to him and Joe Biden. Shut up racist!

Hmmm not sure about your numbers but the fools look to be those who blindly want electric when 70% of all electricity comes from coal. !00% of all batteries must me dug just like coal. Are there any clean electric plants being built or coming online? You know like natural gas, that the left hates because it uses less of a hole than Lithium extraction, or Nuclear which the left also hates. Then we get the great news that our Lithium comes from China to the tune of 75%. Do the lefties really want China controlling our car production considering your begging for 60b to get a chip mfgs up and running after China cut us off during Covid?

I get we're in another cycle of political doom and gloom the world will end blah blah, heard it since the 80's, never came true. My advice to anyone who really wants to know why the cries, follow the money. Who's been the biggest gainers off global warming? Are they following green energy practices? Then you'll have a clue how much they believe it. Climate Change is a Trillion dollar business.
