California's going to great lengths to make sure they get all of the guns off of their streets. Who knows how many 'illegal' toy guns are in the hands of criminals. This buyback program will ensure that every kid will get a book & a chance to win a bicycle, if they hand in their toy gun. I'm sure all of this will be anonymous and no arrests will be made, if they turn in their guns, legally. </endsarcasm>

I think this is by far the most ridiculous thing I've seen. I think it was about every average boy's childhood, growing up playing cops & robbers. Designating some fake spot in the neighborhood that is considered a jail (Usually someone's backyard), and having to stay there for X amount of time, until someone freed you or if all robbers were caught. To think this is desensitizing the children is absolutely absurd.

I'm even more sure that most kids had a water gun, of sorts. There has been no increase in gun violence since then. Maybe it's just the fact that the environment they're growing up in, they have no choice but to have a gun and learn how to use it. Fix up the neighborhoods & this country, maybe folks won't need a gun as much.

Here's a perfect argument, made by a 15 year old girl, against gun control.

funny, out of all the people i grew up with playing cowboys and indians, cops and robbers, pretending to be in a war, or just pretending to plain shoot each other.......not a single one of us has ever just wanted to go out and blow someones head off and we all take gun ownership very seriously. Hell i dont really want to shoot anyone, neither does anyone i know.

now gang bangers, gangster rappers, and other forms of lowlife street thug ilk who promote such lifestyles have a true influence on this kind of thing. But i know, we are not allowed to address that obvious issue.

Sheer idiocy! Our schools seem to be breeding grounds for moronic ideas.

I saw "toy guns" in the title and immediately assumed all logic was thrown out the logic regarding the issue.

    Programming.

For 5 decades, progressives have been frog boiling "the village's" children into complying with their "common good" state collectivist dogma.

Punishment for Pop-Tart "guns" and rewards for turning in their "offensive" toys is conditioning them to accept both from "helpful" authoritarian figures outside of their family structure.

The mere mention of the "Pop-Tart gun" incident makes me mad everytime.
