I don't watch videos as a rule, but the story I linked to in my OP discusses the question of whether this is a one-time event or part of higher revenues. That said, your video is from January and it's now May, and the surplus still exists. The fact that there is a surplus *at all* runs counter to conservative predictions of doom.
you just dont get it..calif still has 9.8 unemployment and is funding illegal aliens at nearly 15 billion dollars yearly..if you dont list all the bills in your budget anyone can make it look good..but people who live here no better
Median income 2011: California 54,681 Texas 48,902 It looks like it's Texas that's got a bit to learn.
That doesn't mean much. We have a MUCH lower cost-of-living too. Californians move here and are shocked at the kind of house they can purchase for their money. Houses here that sell for $600,000 would sell for over $2 million there. Groceries are cheaper; gas is cheaper, and our Unemployment is much lower.
Not really, considering the cost of living. $48,902 in Texas is worth over $68,000 in California. http://money.cnn.com/calculator/pf/cost-of-living/
Why do you believe Mexican people in CA are different? BTW, not all liberals or conservatives are a certain way. Stereo typing can get folks in trouble
I said....."in general." Maybe you missed it. It's not me that's stereotyping. I don't happen to believe that ALL Mexicans think alike.....or ALL blacks think alike. That's what liberals assume.
Actually it's 9% now, down from a high of 10.5%. Still high, but way better than it was, and improving. The '$15 billion on illegal aliens" number is lame. If it's the number I'm thinking of, it does it's best to maximize costs and minimize contributions. And "not listing all the bills in your budget" sounds like a reference to the same article JP5 mentioned earlier -- which has nothing to do with whether a surplus exists or not. If it's something else, please provide a link that explains what you're talking about.
Brown is not a the typical democrat, and he won't be governor too much longer. Obama care hasn't kicked in yet
its 15 billion yearly for medi-cal and welfare on illegal aliens..and you say thats acceptable? now wonder why you liberals ruined this state..
They're all still in place. On a cash accounting basis they've dug out by killing or maybe just hobbling the Golden Goose, the top tier taxpayers. Texas and Nevada are very happy. On an accrual basis they are doomed. The unions won't be denied their future obligations that they cultivated by installing Dem legislators. Game over. .
I'd imagine most of the politicians of California are about to make their own music video of 'Shots'. Funny that the OP is claiming that taxes is the biggest contributors to this surplus. Not the cutting of spending programs, not folks selling off their stocks ahead of the tax increases, but the lack of tax increases. Then, after 6 months of the increased taxes, California erased a deficit close to $60 billion dollars. So, that would mean they've raised, roughly, $61.4 - $64.4 billion dollars in revenue. Time will tell if this is a one-time event or not. I hope, for the citizens of California's sake, that this is a good thing. However, I have my doubts and would imagine things will change next FY.
Otherwise known as "cooking the books." Jerry Brown and the Democrats have been caught "red handed" and the balanced budget or "projected" surplus that Jerry Brown touted doesn't even exist, but the left-wing nuts don't care. They will still vote for failure. California Hit with $31.6 Billion Audit Misstatement
Since Governors can't spend money only state legislatures can, this means that the Democrat controlled State legislature left Californians with a bigger debt than originally thought?
And you actually believed Jerry Brown's lies. Jerry Brown and his cronies have been "cooking the books" and lying to you all along and you lapped it up like vanilla ice cream. California Hit with $31.6 Billion Audit Misstatement
I see you're convicting without a trial, again. Clearly this should be investigated, but you (as usual) are jumping the gun. Also, this won't affect the point of this thread. California will balance it's budget, again. Predictions of California's economic demise are, as always, false.
