Given the fact that California has 80+ cities on the economically critical list there is no way they'd walk out without debt.

They'd still have a debt to their own people as well entities outside of California.

Stripping Cali of federal assets wouldn't be part of some financial deal.

If they have debt, they have debt.

If they have federal property, they surrender them.

If they want to say the debt goes with the property then we say no.

Think of it like the bank coming to take your house because you owe them money but you try to offer up your neighbors house instead - that's not going to fly because you cant bargain with things you don't own.

So hey if someone in California is advocating secession round them up for promoting treason and if California declares they have seceded send in the troops, if not why not? Why does California get to secede but the Southern states were destroyed for trying?

And therefore if California tries it it will be treason and the Federal government will be obliged to do as Lincoln did and send in the US military and if California takes up arms to resist then it will become an armed insurrection.

 

They are gathering signatures on a petition, that is inciting rebellion secession. You said that is treason to secede.

Leaving the union doesn't fit that description.

 

Tell that to those who claim the South committed treason when it seceded and remains traitors. But of course even by that definition when federal troops march in to quell the rebellion and arrest the government officials and California takes up arms............
