Who is they? The official in the video says there is no danger of a dam collapse......but then again this determination is made by the same people who didn't see a problem with the spillway

No one trusts California engineers especially people who oversee California engineers. The sooner you guys break away and start you own country the better it will be for the rest of us.

republicans would say it's Obama's fault and he was not fixing it fast enough... will they do the same to Trump?

Obama couldn't make a comment about any issue without first mentioning that he'd inherited this awful situation from Bush. I'm just saying have you seen Trump blame anything on Obama besides 8 years of unchecked illegal immigration?

nothing will happen to the pacific ocean..the water in the dam came from the ocean first and will just be going back home...sea levels won't change because of this...

But I thought when glaciers melt we're all supposed to run for the hills to escape coastal flooding. I'm getting mixed signals from the climate scientists.

I don't live in California. I live about as far as you can go in the opposite direction and still call yourself an American. I would be fine with them breaking away into their own country or into the ocean. Either one works for me. I am not picky.

An interesting tidbit of spillway fluid dynamics that comes to mind.

How does one determine the radius of curvature for elevation changes? The curve of the spillway follows the same line that the water would if there was no spillway - it follows the line that the water would in free fall coming out of the chute.

If the curve is too tight, you get cavitation due to negative pressures between the water and the concrete. Cavitation is the formation of bubbles due to low pressure. This will erode the concrete like giant grinder and lead to a failure.

If the curve is too slow, it won't allow the water to flow fast enough.

Good for you then. I keep having this dream where Caliphornia declares independence from the US and takes Oregon and Washington with. It could happen some day I know it.

You know it's carma but I hate seeing the wealth of America dissapear like this..

Just think of how much money this is going to cost Americans to fix as is much less if it wipes out a lot more stuff that will have t be cleaned up and replaces downstream..
    Pity..

How much would the fine be for watering all of those lawns in Cali?

Maybe, but there is some granola-y part of northern California and southern Oregon that doesn't consider itself truly part of either so they might subdivide as well.

Do you even try to understand the real issues? Seriously, if this is perplexing then PLEASE don't have any political opinions on the matter. You don't understand the most basic concepts.

This is why you should leave the science to scientists and not your internet buddies. ;) Joe Sixpack isn't qualified to have an opinion.

Sorry if I upset you I just want to know why poor people should pay a carbon tax when Leo DiCaprio can fly his private jet all over the planet attending climate conferences.
