US riots raged hardest during the Johnson administration (Ironically THE civil rights administration) and even disrupted the Democratic convention in 1968 until the Democratic machine in Chicago started to violently suppress them with violent police action, national guard and regular army troops. All approved by Johnson. Prior to this they raged all over the country with the national guard brought in on a regular basis. In fact this is what probably brought Nixon into power by Americans sick and tired of lawlessness. This Democrat response to rioters doesn’t look wise and humane to me.
If the shoe fits... I'm also talking about this here in another thread: The state of Black people. http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/the-state-of-black-people.577674/
Yes, and not only that -- it's total BULLSHIT! How many of us know even one (ONE) police officer who wants to destroy his career, wreck his own life, make himself permanently unemployable, and hated by half the population of the country for "targeting black people for death"...?! The cops are ORDERED to maintain LAW AND ORDER... so they go out on calls when they must arrest people who are breaking the law! Is there anyone so miserably 'jaundiced' and laughably stupid that they really do not understand that...? Folklore has it that the cops would much rather be sitting back in the police station, sipping on coffee and munching donuts -- and they surely would prefer that to being forced to go out to subdue and arrest a bunch of violent criminals who are often armed, drug-crazed, and likely to do any idiotic thing that creeps into their frantic criminal minds!
The " protests" are irrelevant. It's the rioting, arson, and violence that's the problem. Certianly the Democratic city councils, mayors, and governors have been encouraging this, and have made no effort in tapping it down, so I think when this first started, they thought this would benefit the Democrats politically. However we've gone past that point; the polls are turning the other way, and if the "protesters" think they are helping Biden, they're wrong. And yes, if Biden wins these protests will stop until the next time.
Only if Americans start paying complete attention to the issues facing African-Americans otherwise it will continue. I suspect that if elected, Biden will bring their issues to the table and work to help resolve them.
How should African-American people protest to bring about change? When Colin Kapernick took a knee during the National Anthem (peaceful protest) he was criticized as being ungrateful and unpatriotic. When Martin Luther King Jr led peaceful marches, the people were attacked by dogs and water hoses. Since peaceful protest didn't work, some people decided to try something else.
Instead of protesting for someone else to do something why don't they do something themselves? For disrepecting the flag and doing so at a sporting event. What good did it do, have things gotten better? And the Democrats who did that are all gone now, strawman. "Peaceful" protest based on false narratives fueling anarchy in the street is not going to accomplish much but a civil war.
You mean like when he wanted to over rule the leftist governors and mayors allowing endless and violent riots and send in the feds to put a halt to it and the entire LEFT's leadership rose up in protest and called Trump a dictator and evil?
Go to www.antifa.com What do you see? Should answer a few questions... Will you donate? Thanks to @StevenN
You mean like both Barack and Joe did for eight years? No wait . . . there were endless riots during the Obama years whereas there was NOTHING for three and a half years under Trump. The riots only began when Biden kept insulting Blacks and the DNC needed a racial edge to off-set that problem.
So, why didn't he overrule them? I'll tell you why. Because he is part of the problem. Trump is a racist, xenophobe. He has never tried to have any kind communication or understanding with the protesters.
Please practice social distancing. Wear a mask while out in public. Wash your hands frequently. P.S. When you are ready to debate in an intelligent way, let me know.
Because there is such a thing as states' rights. In other words -- unless the president is protecting federal property -- such as a federal courthouse -- he cannot send in the feds. In fact the one time he sent in troops during all of these endless leftist generated riots was to protect a federal court house that leftits were trying to burn to the ground along with the people that they had trapped inside of it. It was in the news and everything.
1. As far as Colin Kaepernick goes, his "protest" deserves criticism because as he himself made clear, he was protesting the country. For him, it's the entire US that's the problem. Otherwise, why take a knee for the National Anthem? The National Anthem doesn't represent the police, or prisons, or crime and punishment, it represents the country. So yes, it was ungrateful and unpatriotic. Of course, I defend his right to do it in his living room while he's watching pro football on TV all he wants, but let's not pretend it's not about his hatred for the country. 2. There is a reason why peaceful protests don't work; it's because the protests are about actions that police usually have no control over. Jacob Blake resisted arrest. He, according to the police, went and got a knife after being told to stop. Once you go for a weapon, expect a hail of gunfire. So no peaceful protest is going to fix the problem of non complying criminals who intend to resist and go for weapons, that's in the hands of the criminals. So people can decide "to try something else" like rioting, arson, and murder, and it's not going to fix this problem because criminals who resist arrest and attempt to go after cops armed with a knife are going to find themselves meeting a hail of bullets. 3. So the answer to your question, "How should African-American people protest to bring about change?" is simply to stop resisting arrest and comply with the officers.
I think you've got Obama confused with Trump. Obama never had riots last this long, in fact name me a riot that lasted for 3 months or more under Obama.
