How did we lose in Korea? We didn't lose in Bosnia or either Iraq invasion.

I don't even see Afghanistan as a loss. We took out the government and replaced it. If we leave now, a Taliban takeover is on the Afghani people themselves, not us.

I think the main problem we face isn't so much from our military itself. It's from moving goalposts among civilian leadership.

We invaded Iraq and replaced its government. After that, it's really just a matter of maintaining our bases there.

The same could be said for Afghanistan, but they're a lot like Pakistan in that ethnic lines seem to define their borders more than the official ones. The central government of Afghanistan doesn't really control all of the official area of Afghanistan, just like Pakistan's government doesn't really control all of their area.

Both of these countries should probably just split themselves into smaller ethnically divided regions, since so much of the rural areas are controlled by tribes rather than a central government.

How the Afghan Army "turns out", will not be reviewed by you certainly. Your arbitrary statements about the Taliban are completely void of their disposition. The Taliban have to fight either by donning the uniforms of other nations, including Afghan, or dress up like women. They have not engaged in open warfare against the US nor Afghan in some years. Your conspiracies have gotten the best of you.

    I admire your loyalty .
And agree that you surely must have the best equipped and armed forces on the planet .
But something has stopped working , because by no stretch of imagination have you ever achieved military objectives anywhere since the second world war .Despite the sensitive nature of the matter , the only other pertinent variables are the quality of your ground troops and/or the abilities of the Officer class .Right to the top of the CIA and Pentagon .
People react hysterically and without intelligence when you point fingers at _ " the brave young men who sacrifice themselves etc etc etc "
But there are no other explanations remaining . All the variables have been identified and if you have the hard and soft wear to kill and maim , why do you lose ?
It is a fair question even though non endearing . And will no doubt provoke irrational and mindless reactions .
Your last comment is badly chosen , imo .
Whether or not you will miss them, both are a sign of your failure .
You elected to invade uninvited .
You said you were going to create a Police Force / Army .
Even if they are hopeless soldiers , that is your fault for asking them to do more than they are capable of .
Not missing them is denial of the reality and abrogation of responsibility -- even though the Afghan army/police force is probably fairly useless .
Almost certainly not up to handling the Taliban .

FALSE! The US troops in Afghanistan have done a good job of dispersing the Taliban, keeping them down (in general), preventing al Qaeda from using the non-country as a base to run bomb-making schools, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, they have been in place to quickly move into Pakistan and secure the 100+ nuclear warheads, if/whenever the fragile Pakistani govt. were to fall into the hands of al QAaeda, the Taliban, and other assorted Islamic loons.
