About 100 churches have been vandalized, torched, or desecrated over the last two-and-a-half years -- but not in Egypt or Nigeria -- it's happening in Canada!

While this phenomenon received a bit of media attention, after some 30 churches were initially torched in the summer of 2021, that number has significantly grown to 96, with the authorities doing little.

Background: According to Canadian "mainstream" media -- all of which are left of Left -- unmarked graves of natives were recently discovered in residential boarding schools, and the Catholic Church is being accused of sadistically killing its young scholars and trying to cover it up.

The problem, however, is that this widely shared narrative is inherently false. These graves were once marked and therefore known, and most of those presumably buried in them died of natural causes. The deaths, moreover, took place primarily in the early 1800s. Apparently some plague--epidemics were especially common back then--broke out in these church-sponsored boarding schools for natives.

Jeff Fynn-Paul wrote in a new book 'Not Stolen: The Truth About European Colonialism in the New World',
'Recent claims of "hundreds" of graves found at Indigenous schools in Canada--claims that were propagated by the board of the Canadian Historical Association no less--have proven to be almost entirely unfounded... The notion that these schools were set up for maleficent ends has been debunked roundly for anyone who cares to look into it.'
But since when did those who hate Christianity care to look into facts when a good pretext is handy? They much prefer to run with claims of innocent young natives being tortured, murdered, and secretly buried by dastardly clerics. As the recent report states, "In response to these announcements [of mass graves], far-left radicals have used this opportunity as an excuse to terrorize Catholic and other Christian communities by targeting churches."

If "far-left radicals" have been the foot soldiers, far-left politicians--that is, the Canadian ruling elite--have provided them with cover.

On June 30, 2021, after the first two dozen churches were torched, Harsha Walia, the then head of British Colombia’s Civil Liberties Association--which claims to "promote, defend, sustain, and extend civil liberties and human rights"--tweeted in regards to the churches: "Burn it all down." (So much for her championing the "civil liberties and human rights" of Canadians; apparently they only apply to some people, not others.)

A Punjabi born and raised in Bahrain, one could say it might make sense for Walia to respond in this manner.

But what explains the similar response from many white Canadian leaders? Prominent Newfoundland lawyer, Caitlin Urquhart, merely parroted Walia--"Burn it all down." Heidi Mathews of Harvard Law School described the vandalization and torching of churches as "the right of resistance to extreme and systemic injustice." Gerald Butts, a close confidant of the Canadian prime minister, said the attacks were "understandable."

As for the leader of Canada himself, after offering the usual lip service and saying that ongoing church attacks are "unacceptable", Justin Trudeau said:
'I understand the anger that’s out there ... against institutions like the Catholic Church. It is real, and it is fully understandable given the shameful history that we’re all becoming more and more aware of.'

After stating that four churches were torched in the days leading up to this last Christmas, 2023 -- a recent report states that, "as it turns out, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have -- so far -- zero evidence that any of the church arsons have any link to anti-Christian animus." "None of the, of the files we've solved, showed any particular affinity against the churches whatsoever," Corporal Troy Savinkoff, a RCMP spokesman, was quoted as saying, before emphasizing that there's no evidence that the fires are linked or part of any "concerted effort" against churches.

Such commentary seems absurd. One would think that the very fact all these churches have been targeted is evidence that these attacks were motivated by anti-Christian animus.

Canada: Nearly 100 Churches Torched, Four during Christmas, 2023 , by Raymond Ibrahim, January 25, 2024
(This comes from a blog, not a commercial news publication, and the author is speaking out to whoever will listen to him)

Why is Ibrahim speaking out? He was born to Coptic Christian parents who had immigrated to the United States, fleeing persecution and attacks in Egypt, so persecution against Christians is an issue close to heart which he is very familiar with.

There are plenty of younger people who have become absolutely convinced that the Catholic Church carried out an intentional genocidal massacre to wipe out native children. The media may have never explicitly claimed this, but they certainly inculcated that impression, with plenty of deceptively misleading insinuation.
For anyone who spends any amount of time on TikTok or Facebook, it's obvious that a huge number of young people have been convinced of this, from the media coverage.

All this seems a little reminiscent of Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution in China. Fan the flames and turn the people against supposed "public enemies".

What part do you think is just opinion, precisely?

That the mainstream media claimed this and many people believe it? Or you believe the evidence really does show the Catholic Church intentionally murdered native children?

The persons incited to do this are so stupid it doesn't make much difference whether it's a Catholic Church or not. The full article in the link gives an example of a Coptic Church in Canada being burned down too.

It's kind of revealing that the true hatred isn't really just against the Catholic Church but Christianity in general.

This angst against an alleged historical wrong committed by a Catholic organization has unleashed all sorts of pent-up antipathy against Christians in general, it looks like.

Since the author is clearly biased, anything that doesn't have documented evidence in his blog is opinion. I'm going to start with that.

    Documented evidence of what?

Evidence that the media has been pushing this narrative and tons of dumb people are believing it?

If that's the issue, then I'll be happy to provide that evidence. It's not difficult to find.

It’s not just the media. The Truth and Reconciliation commission has employers telling their employees about it. I had to do an hour long online course about it at work. They also have a mandatory course in high school about it. My nephew just finished it. The best part is that the East Indian teacher uses the course as a platform to teach why India is such a great country and why western nations are despotic conquerors. She fills his head with Pro Palestine, antiwestern ideas. In her mind the west is a land of injustice and India is the pinnacle of peace and Justice. I am not sure why she lives here.

That said, there is no doubt in my mind that native people in Canada were conquered and then marginalized. The residential schools did cause a lot of harm and children did die and get buried in unmarked graves. Sometimes it was just kids running away and then dying in the wilderness and other times it was illness untreated and on other occasions it was sexual and physical abuse.

Everyone knows that Catholic nuns ran any school, not just residential schools, with punishment and humiliation as the primary deterrent for bad behavior. Everyone knows that Catholic priests are often child molesters. I personally had an Italian friend who was molested by a Catholic priest when she was a kid and he filled her head with such incredible nonsense about her being born beautiful to tempt him away from the church. He simultaneously raped her because he couldn’t control himself and punished her for causing him to do it. It’s disgusting. That’s not made up. John Frederick Monaghan of Nelson B.C. spent four years in prison for sex abuse in the 80’s.

The list of priests in Canada who have been convicted of sex abuse is staggering.

It should also be pointed out that sexual abuse has been very prevalent in foster family homes in the U.S. so this might not have so much to do specifically with Catholics in particular. Just the nature of the system. Also keep in mind that the majority of the adults, and the ones actually running things, in these boarding schools were female nuns. This would have made sexual abuse less likely.

You can make the argument that residential schools caused "a lot of harm", but I think it is unfair to automatically equate that to the issue of children dying, especially if your claim is children were intentionally killed.

I don't think we have any specific evidence that the kids died due to sexual and physical abuse.

I think you are very wrong.

There was at least enough evidence for the Conservative Prime Minister of Canada to issue an apology in 2008. Far from being a far left extremist, Stephen Harper was one of Canada’s most highly regarded Conservative Prime Ministers and an evangelical Christian. There was enough evidence to form the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. There was testimony from 6,500 people. The Government of Canada provided over 5 million records. There was evidence of malnourishment, lack of proper medical care, physical and sexual abuse and neglect to the point of death.

They probably jumped over the moon with cow toaster pig chicken juice.

I'm sure Canada is just full of trump supporters.... Couldn't be left-wing Canadian propaganda stirring up the leftist..... No that makes too much sense..... Let's go with something completely illogical having no basis in reality.

Let's pretend it isn't obvious that the left openly displays their disdain and contempt for Christianity.

If this was the seventeenth or eighteenth century, it would make sense as an intrusion. Nowadays, I don't think there's anything more benign than Christian Church's.

I meant to say burning them down would make sense as they might be an intrusion on the native culture way back then, but not now.

But the OP says you are wrong about that. The OP says it is indigenous people targeting specifically Catholic churches because of this belief that they were engaged in murdering native people.

That is not exactly what I said. Churches are being attacked. Probably most of the people attacking these churches are white progressives on the Left, who either think they are on the side of "avenging" indigenous people, or are using it as an excuse to take out vengeance on Christianity, stemming from a hatred that was already in their hearts even before this was broadcast in the news.
