It's also clear that the mob violently crashed the Capitol, injuring and hospitalizing about 140 Officers. The mob won. At that point, it's reasonable to assume that the remaining Officers would acquiesce to whomever was part of the mob for the sake of peace and their own well being and safety. It is absurd to say that because they had been overcome, striking a congenial pose, that they were somehow complicit and that nothing bad had happened.
