I think he will be indicted.. for manslaughter or negligent homicide...and I have NO problem waiting for a completed investigation.

But, I find trying to turn a dead boy into the aggressor to be problematic..

George Zimmerman was Neighborhood Watch.. He was supposed to WATCH and call the police. He had NO training and no arrest powers.. and NO authority?

Its a massive screw up that cost a kid his life.

You presume the boy to be innocent which makes sense as he is the victim. In our justice system, we also have to presume that Zimmerman is innocent as well. That's obviously much more difficult. Which is why we leave it to the professionals who are (hopefully) able to emotionally detach themselves from the case and look only at the facts. It's also why mob rule and media sensationalism is so dangerous.

Oh I know.. the prosecution will have to prove Zimmerman's guilt.. but so far defense doesn't look hopeful to me.

This could have happened in my neighborhood.

IMO.. you can't exceed your authority... if so .. then every person with a vigilante mentality would get a pass.

If Zimmerman had backed down and let the police do their job, there wouldn't be a dead 17 year old... and his own life wouldn't be in shambles.

Right... but you're forgetting that we don't know the facts. Everyone here is formulating their opinion on what they've seen on TV. There are those that claim he did back down, there are those that claim the opposite. Someone is lying. As Mike Tyson said last night, which I thought was uncharacteristically intelligent for a man who got his brains bashed in for a living, "I don't know what happened, I wasn't there. I do know that a boy is a dead, and that is tragic."

I personally don’t have a problem with the true intent of this Law, but after what has happened … I sure hope Neighborhood Watch individuals are better trained, because people are not going to stop walking to the store, but they may start packing just in case. I’m betting, no one going to be innocently shot by someone pursuing them again anytime soon.

I know personalty as a individual citizen, no one is going role-up on me unless they have a badge ... period ... no exception!

If this is the Law they want, then this is exactly what they will get.

All I can say is Good Luck

We do actually know some facts.. Trayvon was NOT armed.... and he was NOT neighborhood watch... nor did he call 911.

And, I don't care what color anyone in this FUBAR is.

One would think the Gun Owner would be the one in charge of the situation, if NOT ... why do they have a Gun?

"One would think" would be a refreshing change.

It really bothers me that Zimmerman didn't wait for the police AFTER he had called them. There is something wrong with Zimmerman.

When someone suffers violence or dies in ANY of these "Castle Doctrine" cases... there should always be a FULL investigation.

The idea of taking someone's "word" for "X"... is completely ludicrous.

What happened in Sanford, FL... got "noticed" because any fan of "CSI" could do better their police department did. :(

Always second guessing. Treyvon ran, you think Zimmerman might have wanted to see where he went?

Some how I think "everyone" has gotten the message ...

If someone is 'pursuing" you ... STAND YOUR GROUND

I'll put Vegas Odd's on this not happening to "anyone" anytime soon.

I can relate to your point. Even so, forensics can/do speak for the dead. Al I'm asking for in more reasonableness and accountability (by OFFICIALS) in such cases... than we saw in Sanford City, FL.

You know the truth will come out, that's what's worrying so many people.

Crow in not ever in season ... and there's a lot of it to go around!

It's not the truth I'm worried about. It's if the truth isn't what people want to hear that worries me. If Zimmerman was guilty he should burn for what he did. If it was truly self defense there is a large constituency of people, as portrayed on this board, who are convinced the man is a cold-blooded murderer. Any decision short of that is going to have negative consequences.

What's your definition of stalking? Following a person, provided they don't have a restraining order on you, is completely legal.

Exactly. I'm not going to claim Zimmerman was innocent or that Martin was at fault. I will only claim that we DON'T know yet. All the clashing I'm doing with people is with lynch mob types who use their personal opinions and vague senses of what Zimmerman should have done to declare verdicts.

    REALLY?

Please give us a time line of everything the police did. What they saw, when they saw it, what they noted, when they noted it. Post all the crime scene photos they took. And all the photos of Zimmerman that the police took.

The rest of us LACK this info that you must have to make your decisions.

You might also post where you LEARNED that Castle Doctrine and Stand your Ground cases are not investigated. I was sadly mistaken in thinking they ALL were investigated.
