http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24819538 A child advocacy group used a fake profile to catch 1,000 people trying to pay what they believed to be a 10-yr-old girl on webcam to take off her clothes. I think I know which chatroom they visited. Once, out of curiosity, I created a fake account (posing as a minor), and within twenty minutes I was deluged with private messages, many of which requesting that I "go on cam." The number of pedophiles out there is much higher than people realize -- all the more reason to monitor your kids' online activity, especially with chatrooms and social media.
It’s scary stuff. What’s even scarier is sometimes these predators will try to meet the kids in real life. Parents need to pay attention to what their kids are doing online.
