I think this is really an excuse to attack a big religious organization, and not about actual justice.

You expect a child to go to the police? Get real.

If the victim is a child it is less likely they will go to the police. But if the church knows about the crime and cover it up, they need to be taken to task....and punished.

So you're saying the church makes it an unofficial policy to tell the child not to tell their family?

Or are you accusing the Church of paying money out to the family to keep them quiet?

    Ridiculous.

Again....do you think a child will go to his/her parents and tell them a priest molested them? What are the chances the parents will believe such a tale? What make you think the police will believe such a tale. It's well documented that the Catholic churches covered up all these criminal behavior, so they should be punished.

Shall I listen to child psychologists? Or you?

Please explain how the Church found out there was a crime going on in the first place.

    Google is your friend.

Seriously, it's been documented how victims have come forward. Don't be disingenuous.

Funny thing I was just thinking about whether RICO would apply. I think that to be applicable the church would have to be primarily a criminal organization. They have engaged in crimes and covered them up but the church's mission is primarily religious, not criminal.

iirc RICO has already been used against a diocese in Texas. Records were not forthcoming and the FBI went in. There are still bishops sheltering predator priests.
