You must be getting your information from someone who lies to you. There are plenty of things in Portland celebrating white culture. There is the German American Society with their wonderful statute of George Washington out front. There is the Swedish Cultural Center, almost like a part of a Swedish village, where all the signs are in Swedish.

Coming into town on US30 there is a monument with statues celebrating those who migrated here. The statues clearly depict whites.

We also have annual celebrations based in white culture. Things like Midsummer's Eve and the Highland Games. In the parks, in the summer, there are free public performances of Shakespeare plays. We have parks with these wonderful rose gardens, which are a white cultural thing.

Portland boast the most micro-breweries and craft brewers of any city, per capita. It is the #1 beer town in America. Beer is the white man's drug. We also have some of the best Marihuana in the world. This is no Mexican Weed. We have strains that were developed using scientific methods. Strains people come from around the world to sample.

There are the croquet games played in the parks where the participants dress like Alice in Wonderland characters and hit bowling balls with sledge hammers. Who but white people would do such a thing?

Then, of course, Portland is perhaps the whitest city in the US. Almost the entirety of the cultural life in Portland centers around white people doing things white people want to do.

Portland is also one of the most polite cities in the world. You see it a lot in intersections with 4way stop signs. "Go ahead" "no, you go" "oh, it's okay, you can go first" "no, you go"

What the people of Portland do not like is right-wing gangs coming into our town, dressed like a cross between a Forth of July day clown parade and a Mad Max movie, wearing armor, wielding weapons, calling us enemy territory, and expressing an extreme dislike of liberals. Especially when we know that the people who live in Portland tend to live better than people who live in conservative dominate parts of the state and country.

Come here and act civilized and you'll be welcomed in Portland. Come here and preach division and hate and expect a great deal of pushback.

I am sick of every time some dude wearing a helmet creates a disturbance having that blamed on me and the rest of we Republicans. I was once a very loyal Democrat. I voted for Democratic party BS for many many years. I knew things were not improving but they had my vote. Then I decided I had to make inquiries.

 

Obviously, they don't want anyone to remember how trump emboldened the racists and how grateful they were for his support.

No it wasn't just the townspeople there to protect their city. There were many of them and also people there to protest against the neo-Nazis, KKK, and white supremacists. Just as there were locals and others there protesting against removing the statue of Lee. It wasn't all KKK,
neo-Nazis and white supremacists. This is just what Trump was saying. There were good and bad on both sides. But because he wasn't like a politician and pointed out specifically who he was talking about, many of you had to say and think he was sticking up for the bad guys and condemning the good. To think that there wasn't plenty of locals in that crowd marching against the removal of Lee is absurd. Your in the South and Lee was the most famous person in the Confederacy, looked up to by millions of Southerners. I have no doubt in my mind they were marching right along with the others. No doubt there were people watching, heckling and maybe throwing things at the protesters. Trump was right, there were good and bad on both sides even if you don't want to admit it.

 

U of V? I've earned a couple of degrees from UVA in Charlottesville. Is there a school there that I was unware existed?
