"Chick-Fil-A Agrees To Cease Funding To Anti-Gay Organizations, Chicago LGBT Group Claims"

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/19/chick-fil-a-anti-gay-organizations-funding-ceased_n_1896580.html

My reaction is a big "So, what?". I have little doubt that the owner will continue to fund anti-gay organizations. Purchasing Chick-Fil-A products will continue to enrich him. He's welcome to spend his money as he likes, and I'm welcome to continue thinking he's an ass and to do business elsewhere. (In the interest of full disclosure, there's only 1 Chick-Fil-A in Michigan, and I would be unlikely to eat there anyway).

So I'm having trouble seeing this as the "victory" that no doubt some will try to crow that it is. What changed? Not a heck of a lot, in my view.

That's surprising. I thought that they had a huge out pour of support from the anti-gay community. Why would they need to stop funding anti-gay organizations if they have such a huge amount of people backing them up...

Or did they all just come out to support them that one day and then lost their supporters afterwards? lol

I was momentarily shocked when I saw the headline myself. It just doesn't make any sense to me why the company would make this move, unless it has something to do with wanting to expand into new locations and finding resistance because of the perception created by the owner's anti-gay remarks, and the funding of anti-gay organizations. I really doubt that they've lost any significant business over this stuff.

And wouldn't "caving" this way be huge PR disaster for them with the people who want anti-gay businesspeople to stand their ground? It's a real headscratcher.

What's with the incessant claiming that Chick Fil A's owner made anti-gay, when no such remarks were made. Being against gay marriage isn't "anti-gay" anymore than being against drug abuse a means you "hate people" who use drugs.

That's the leftist MO, repeat a lie often enough and just hope people will accept it as true.

The people who showed up there to support Chick Fil A, they were pro-freedom pro-tolerance, and weren't pleased with the gay McCarthyists trying to harass and bully a business simply because the owner showed the same opinion of gay marriage which Obama did in 2008.

They won't see me in their stores for a VERY LONG TIME (if ever again).

There are a LOT of gay people and their supporters, who will continue the same withholding of support from Chic-fil-A; and rightly so.

The man is anti-gay. If you can't see that through your ludicrous word-game; so be it.

How is it ever tolerant to want to continue to withhold equal rights to a group of people based on who they prefer to love?

I love it when people like yourself preach 'tolerance' while at the same time you oppose civil rights at every turn. Tolerant my ass.

The gay mafia is in practice way less tolerant than the average person who doesn't support gay marriage - they're about on the same level as Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church, the way they harass and bully anyone who has a different view than they do - but somehow they don't realize how they're little different.

Prove that he is. Being against gay marriage is no different than being against legalized pot - that doesn't mean that the person "hates" people who smoke pot - just accept it and deal with it. You can't win an argument without slandering your opponents.

It will be my choice to treat his goals and actions as being anti-gay. You can play around with trying to honor or accept him. I know exactly why I'm against him.

They aren't the same thing; you are just plain wrong. Try again.

Your analogy is just plain stupid logic. You should see where it fails... but I'm sure you won't.

I won't ever accept laws/actions that I think and believe are unconstitutional. YOU can accept that yourself... I won't be following down behind you.

That's your opinion. So be it.

where the confusion is, is he didn't get a pouring of support from the anti-gay community, he got a pouring support from the "it's his money, he can donate it to whatever cause he wants, even if you don't agree with it" community.

problem was, a liberal media reporter had an agenda, twisted words, left out key points... and made it look like the guy was bashing gays when all he was doing was supporting groups like Fellowship of Christian athletes. Pro-gay supporters fell for the agenda, went nuts over it, and when it came out that it was he wasn't supporting "anti-gay" but rather, Christian groups..... it was too late. The line in the sand had already been drawn. People still wanted to be mad coupled with the left's hatred of all things Christian.... it led to half truths and agenda being pushed as "they hate gays"

now again, because Chic-fil-a decides not to support an anti-gay group, the lezbo communtity claims it as a "victory"

never let the truth get in the way of a good agenda.....

fwiw - I did not goto the Chic-fil-a day on either the supporting side, or on the kiss-in side of the argument. I just don't like fast food.

Private businesses can support whomever or whatever they want. I always felt it ironic that Ben and Jerry's can come out supporting gay rights, and the left doesn't mind.... but if a group comes out supposedly against.... they need to be punished. Seems very hypocritical. I also havent' stopped eating icecream even though BandJ support a cause I do not..... They make (*)(*)(*)(*) good icecream

I don't see desperation, but I DO see an effort to keep a spotlight upon Chic-fil-A overall.

    That's something I support.

So your saying the TCRA could produce a claim of capitulation just to keep the spotlight on Chic-fil-A? Why it only helps their business. The one in my area is busier than ever. It's kind of in an out of the way place.

Not really sure... but in my mind the goal should be to keep the PUBLIC aware that multi-billion dollar corporations support anti-gay causes; and that certain billionaires DO project their wealth into such causes.

The battle is surely larger than Chic-fil-A; they will ultimately only be a 'symbol' in all of this. That organization is merely used as a springboard.

    Okay.

    Yep.

I lolz at the gay agenda trying to paint Chic-fil-a as a gaybasher by supporting organizations like F.C.A/F.C.S. (Fellowship of Christian Students/Athletes) That is not a gay bashing organization. And CFA has just as much right to support them as Ben and Jerry's does to support pro-gay organizations.

supporting Christian organizations with Christian beliefs /= supporting anti-gay organizations. The only way I would not support a private business supporting a group of their choice is if that group supports violent acts to promote their cause (ie- kick a "queer" day or lynch a "nigge r day")

if anyone can find me a group that CFA donates to, that supports illegal activities like assault or murder, then I will join in with you against CFA. Until then, they are no different than Ben and Jerry's and those that complain are hypocrits

Not applying your low standard of only criticizing illegal activities does not make anyone a hypocrite.

My point in the OP was that CFA can do as they please with their money - and so can those of us who find their cause displeasing.

I know Ben and Jerry's supports gay rights.... and while I don't agree with that, doesn't mean I'm going to jump aboard the social media smear campaign to destroy a company I don't politically agree with like the gay agenda tried to do with CFA.

I don't have an issue with a group boycotting. if gays don't want to eat at CFA because of this... so be it. I'm not avoiding B+J's because they do support gays, but to each their own.

I do find it repulsive the labeling anyone who supports traditional marraige as a hate group, or homophobes, or ignorant, or whatever other name you can think of simply because you don't agree with their cause.

say what you will about the Church... but when the Baptist church boycotted Disney over their pro-gay position.... you didn't see them harrassing Disney workers like you saw that one (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) who verbally attacked the drive up window girl just trying to do a job.

Mean while Hatrosexual and bisexual hiv infections are going up not that the gblt would care as they seem to think the "H" in hiv means homosexual, see scientifically ignorant.

And the Lesbians are thick on the ground I can tell you the real militant man haters ,when I asked them to produce the first lesbian To Lesbian sexually transmitted case of Hiv \Aids then well it still stands 25 years on as 0 cases ,yet they are thick on the ground barely tolerating the "gays ,and outright attacking any poor Bisexual or hetrosexual that comes near the AIDS COUNCIL OF New South Wales, its not called GAY- CON ,many say its a gay con in the Homosexual community of Sydney ,I know they keep telling me.

For clarification of the ignorant ,sydney australia is trhe most Homsexual tolerant city on the Planet ,yes and i include europe and San Fransisco ,oh and the American accents funnily are thick on the ground around 414 Eklizabeth street SYDNEY ,NSW <Australia.Funny how the US Gay community likes australia so much ,i wish they would leave the gay identity at home and become normal homosexuals, sorry correction just ordinary Humans and not wear their sexual identity on their fat heads ,arrogant americans coming here with their cultural imperialism ,talk about infections.l .

He funds radical groups that call for gay couples to have their kids taken by force. So, if any of these radical groups gain power and start kidnapping kids, he should be arrested for funding a terrorist group.

You have had a lot of good posts in this thread. It just goes to show how people like Johnny-C don't tolerate any opinions other than their own.

It's the liberal mantra in general. They only support free speech... if they agree with you.

you know, monopolies used to be legal. so was beating your wife. would you support that? it's ethically wrong and has many many victims but they weren't technically illegal. Uganda is trying to pass a bill that allows the execution of gays, if it gets legalized would you be all for that? what i'm trying to explain here, is that sometimes there are things that are legal that are also immoral, and have victims. i don't think it should be a law that people can't support organizations that do what others find immoral, but i do think people should learn to intelligently choose where they shop, and know what that organization does in the political world. this would solve many of our problems. the fact that you find out what organizations support (your ben and jerry anecdote in a different post) yet you still shop there despite them supporting organizations you don't like means that you don't care enough about your beliefs to alter your way of life for them. i'm not judging you, it's your life live it as you will, but i am assessing your actions and explaining a very easy to spot characteristic about you. so don't bother trying to say i'm "slandering" you.

is supporting FCS/FCA immoral? your fundamental hatred of anything religion is hypocritical so long as continue to support your rights by trying to suppress my rights, as a private business, to donate time or money to.

I still stand by my statement.....
