I do agree in the end, the tariffs didn't go far enough but I can only imagine the hoopla(it was only six years ago) at what would've transpired if he went all the way. You know it and I know it as well. If Trump so much as sneezed, there was resistance to his sneezing lol.

Is it now official GOP policy that China must be always be completely and instantly appeased, or is that only the policy of conservatives on this thread?

Whatever the case, Democrats will be hammering Republicans for their current so-very-soft-on-China foreign policy.

Not surprising, of course, given how much Chinese money goes to the Republicans.

This is all bluster. In a week it will be off the RADAR.

Joe and Nancy probably planned this and know exactly what they're doing. They are both a couple of pros.

China ceases talks on the climate. LOL! As if they're immune. They are probably more screwed than we are. A good part of China could run out of water. And they are already suffering greatly from the extreme heat.

All this is happening because Biden is a weak, not well, mentally declining president. Even strength shown by Pelosi can't compensate for the weakness and chaos within the office. I dislike Pelosi but she shouldn't back down. Problem is..she's not backed up.

China is our real enemy and we've been focused on Russia.

I wasn't suggesting war. I was focusing on the production of products here in the United States. The campaign to switch companies over to producing things needed for war could be used to get companies to produce the products we need in an economic war with China. If our companies can no longer participate in China production of our goods it might give them incentive to produce those products here.

We couldn't possibly ramp up war time production(s) in time, impossible.. The U.S. since Clinton has sold our souls for cheap goods from countries that would like nothing more than to see us reduced to their way of life..

The point was was that the Nation came together under a common purpose. Give companies more incentive to produce goods here.

You do know that during World War Two it took the U.S. more than three years to "ramp up war time production".

If we actually started now we could be ready by the time a real war kicked off.

Ya I get where you're coming from. But in the WW's we were already an industrial country producing all the materials we needed to make what a war requires.. Todays modern warfare we don't even produce the material to build logic chips for guidance, fly by wire and other very high-tech items that are crucial to aviation, ballistics and such..

Pretty sure our opponent's are not going to continue to supply us with crucial components needed to win a war against them ;)

Take a moment and think, think about why China want's control of Taiwan so badly?

TSMC: Taiwanese chipmaker ramping production to end chip shortage (cnbc.com)

We lose Tiawan and we will lose the ability to make todays cars run..
We have dug ourselves a very deep and dark pit of dependency good sir!

Another of Biden's famous gaffes. That crazy ******* is going to get us into another costly war.

It wouldn't be easy, but as it stands now what would happen if we did go to war with China over Taiwan? Our supplies would be cut off anyways. Better to prepare for it by giving companies incentives to produce here. In the short term it would be "painful", but in long term we would be better off.
