"The DPRK must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons,” Mattis said in a statement. “The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.”.....snip~

Do you think General Mad Dog Mattis was loud enough?

And hours later Trump told him make his move. I notice Guam is still intact. No attack yet. Also no word from lil Kim after Trump told him the US is ready for War.

Mattis Warns Kim Jong Un: Don't Continue Threats That Would Force Regime Change.....

President Donald Trump warned North Korean President Kim Jong Un yesterday that his continuing threats "will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen."

Today Secretary of Defense James Mattis is also weighing in, warning North Korea that their actions will be met with consequences and that they should wisely choose how to proceed.

"The United States and our allies have the demonstrated capabilities and unquestionable commitment to defend ourselves from an attack. Kim Jong Un should take heed of the United Nations Security Council’s unified voice, and statements from governments the world over, who agree the DPRK poses a threat to global security and stability. The DPRK must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons. The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people," Mattis said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is traveling through Asia this week and stopped in Guam for fuel this morning......snip~

Lil Kim said Guam, huh? Trump says really, sends his SOS to Guam. Dayuum Trump called that bluff ahead of time.

Again you can make all the threats in the world, let's see if they have the balls to back them up.

I don't know about you, but I can't think of anyone more qualified to hold the nuclear codes in this country than a reality TV game show host beauty pageant owner.

Why do you think they those who consider themselves our enemy call the General "Mad Dog".....Evidently his Rep precedes him.

But that is good advice for Lil Kim to heed. He really shouldn't be making idle threats.

Trump's Red Line was crossed within a few hours, LMAO!!!! Three I believe. Trump put Lil Kim at the same level as the USA by responding with the same chest thumping.......he is punching down and Trump is already at the bottom. China did some verbal appeasement to help Trump save face. The Mexican Pres did not ;).

I wouldnt call threats of nuclear missles going off on this planet a "success"

Ill believe others countries words when they actually start doing something. China has literally most of the power in this situation to end it without nuclear war

To be fair I think we would be in this situation regardless of who was president and US policy has been weak for a long time regarding NK just kicking the can down the road and now here we are.

People need to **** about the partisan bullcrap and name calling and grow up. I think trump is vastly underqualified to be president and is an embarassment to the presidency but will give him credit if he sees this North Korea situation through without armed resolution. He will deserve it and will earn some of my respect for him.

Although IDK if its just me but I do find it a BIT ironic how the US trys to dictate Nuclear policy when WE are LITERALLY the only country to use not just 1 but 2 nuclear weapons in practice on real people(no matter the circumstances or "lives saved")

Oddly enough it's not Putin threatening Guam ... you'll need deep cover to seek asylum in NK ... US travel restrictions in effect.

Interesting thought. One question, if North Korea is the slave state of China why would China allow it to become nuclear capable? In my opinion it wouldn't, ever.

The fact is, China has moved away from the status quo concerning the Korean peninsula. Reunification is no longer opposed through peaceful means verses military means. Obviously, this without question, implies the economic powerhouse of South Korea would lead and dominate negotiations on reunification and a future Korea. This cannot be settling for North Korean leadership.

Further, North Korea isn't a strategic asset for China in the 21st century, it's a liability.

Kim's drive to nuclear weapons isn't just to keep the option of a North controlled unified Korea open, it's equally important as a deterrent against China's changing interests in the region.

Kim's demonstration of nuclear ability really, imo, isn't to confront the United States but to force China's hand.

I'll take him over the drunken kleptocrat that was too lazy to campaign, and when she did bother to show up, campaigned in the wrong States. Hillary would have been more Obamacrap, only worse.

Intel Community Knew About North Korea's Miniaturized Nukes Back in 2013, But Obama -- Get This -- Got Media to Downplay the Story

Obama was never about managing foreign policy crises -- he was about managing the media coverage of foreign policy crises. His theory was always that if the public doesn't know about a threat, then, from a political point of view, he doesn't have any problem.

    More evidence of that.

Tuesday's bombshell Washington Post story that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has determined North Korea is capable of constructing miniaturized nuclear weapons that could be used as warheads for missiles – possibly ICBMs -- left out a crucial fact: DIA actually concluded this in 2013. The Post also failed to mention that the Obama administration tried to downplay and discredit this report at the time....

The Director of National Intelligence and Obama officials subsequently tried to dismiss Lamborn's disclosure by claiming the DIA assessment was an outlier that did not reflect the views of the rest of the U.S. Intelligence Community.

It was clear what Obama officials were doing in 2013. The DIA report represented inconvenient facts that threatened President Obama’s North Korea "strategic patience" policy -- a policy to do nothing about North Korea and kick this problem down the road to the next president. Obama officials tried to downplay the DIA assessment to prevent it from being used to force the president to employ a more assertive North Korea policy.

    Son of a bitch.

NYT: “Trump’s Harsh Language on North Korea Has Little Precedent, Experts Say.”

    Fake News!

First, there was President Harry S. Truman, in 1945, demanding that the Japanese surrender or “they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this earth.”

Second, there was Bill Clinton, in 1993:

… during a speech in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea that if Pyongyang ever used nuclear weapons, “it would be the end of their country.”

Victor Cha (of the Center for Strategic and International Studies) said “I take Trump’s statement in the same spirit” as Bill Clinton’s. It’s “a message of deterrence, which is important now to avoid any miscalculation.”

Trump is warning China, as well he should!

Yeah yeah, and they're going to take 2 weeks to fire 4 missiles at Guam. That was their response.

Quite pathetic.....2 weeks to get ready to do something. We should be laughing in their face. 2 weeks......oh okay, you say you will try then.

Because to hyper partisan lefties they will find anything they can to denigrate and rip apart Trump. He has already done far more than any president yet Dems will still stick to "he isn't following his campaign talking points" which is just a lame argument to use.

Lame because it is just so damn obvious that there is no truth in the comment, simply looking for another partisan response is all

    Frustrates me...
