Chinese carrier sails through Taiwan Strait hours before Biden-Xi call

This. Russia and China are incomparable in terms of their place on the market. The Chinese have their hands literally EVERYWHERE and they have preached a long-term geo-financial domineering strategy that has already paid massive dividends. (that's why China can afford to be neutral and despite a 'strongly worded' Biden lashing, Xi will laugh off Biden and our government, and easily so.)

So, to give everyone a quick and easy illustration of what would happen if Biden/West tried to sanction the Chinese in response to a seizure of Taiwan: The Chinese would recall their debt held in U.S Bonds. Great Depression 2.0(or 2.5 if one believes Obama's statements about the 2009-2015 crisis.)

 

The blood you see is Russian, and there is a lot of it. How you think the US is somehow in the losing end of this is beyond me, but some people tend to see US in negative light no matter what.

 

China.... A little bit? in 2020 they were importing $600 million per month. 2019 was vastly greater!

 

These people are living in 1990. They think the West is still the centre of the universe. It's all tied to their fear of losing the cushy First World lifestyle underwritten by very rich Govts. They need to believe things are going to bounce back to peace and prosperity any minute. They're living like there is only that possible tomorrow, for that reason. These folk are going to expire very ****ing quickly, in the not too distant future.

I was talking to a Deep Denial type during this past week, and he's now drowning fast. Even two years ago, he claimed life was too short to worry about things that will never happen (he was sure nothing bad would happen to economies and the like as a result of the pandemic). Last year when rumblings started about global inflation, supply chains, war, oil etc .. he said the same thing. Was CERTAIN it was all temporary, and that any kind of precaution was loony tunes and 'conspiracy theorist'. Less than a year on, he's now been priced out of the cheap real estate markets he hesitated on (because as he said then - he wasn't ready for that kind of commitment), he hasn't had a pay rise in years, and he's now struggling to keep the family fed and pay his high inner city rent and utility bills. It gets worse ... he lives in an apartment, so has no hope of feeding himself going forward. At age 55 and with diminishing earning potential, he would now struggle to even secure another rental - given the insane competition. He's ****ed, basically. No war or zombie apocalypse needed - just our own refusal to accept that no one is coming to save us from these ever increasing 'little' setbacks.

 

Our compromised "leaders" will talk tough in public but privately it's a different story (remember Obama's hot mic when talking to Mevedev privately).

Try to sanction China and America will be on it's knees. This would be far beyond the Great Depression. You really think that America can walk away from its biggest trading "partner"? They could probably collapse some of our globalist companies who are heavily exposed. Hell it would probably take out my own company as we are making serious bank in China. In addition, they have Russia, India and Brazil and most of Africa.

In case you missed the memo, this is the moment in history where America steps down as the global hegemon. If China succeeds in destroying the petro dollar, the whole house of cards will collapse. Saudi Arabia is not accepting Biden's calls. This is how close we are to going over the cliff. If Saudi Arabia stops accepting dollars and demands Yuan instead, that is pretty much the ballgame and the official start of the Chinese hegemon. This could happen this year. With Biden in office, you know the American response will be ineffectual and self-defeating. His response to the Ukraine fiasco proves that, he apparently believes shooting your own country in the head somehow harms your enemies.

Don't know much about South America. Outside the communist dictatorships I don't see a lot of love there. Burgeoning economic ties, maybe.

The Chinese middle class is the West's greatest hope. They tend not to endorse wars. I only see China invading Taiwan if things are going really bad for China and it's about to fall apart. Ie, war as a desperate move to promote nationalism and unification.

 

That is a good point. They have a good thing going. Why ruin it over Taiwan, but if the US gets too involved in Taiwan like they did Ukraine they may do what Russia did. Countries that border powers play by their rules. Just like Cuba.
