But Americans are FORCED to pay the $60,000 a year price instead, Do you seriously believe that some illegal immigrant who is willing to work at backbreaking labor picking vegetables for LESS than minimum wage is the SOLE CAUSE of your current predicament? You are catching on. When Republicans insist on using alternative facts where truth isn’t truth, we can not have an honest conversation. It has become such a big deal, that scientists are studying the phenomenon. It is partially understood. It has a lot to do with processing information in the emotional part of the brain. When new information is met first with the flight of fight response, information contrary to belief is discarded. Doubling down on a bad idea, as a defensive mechanism only fixes the bad idea more firmly in one’s mind.

I suspect that you are right. If the IMPOTUS labeled Mother Theresa as a "terrorist" they would have no problem at all if he killed her with a drone strike because the label is all they need to "understand" in order to justify his criminal behavior. It was @ImNotOliver who raised the point about the emotive processing and it tends to be on the binary "fight or flight" level whereas the ME requires actual cogitation in order to grasp the complexities.
