They said he "lifted a few articles from a magazine"! They can't even call it plagiarism! CNN and Time clearly are showing they know nothing about true journalism integrity.. What do they owe this guy anyway? This tool Zakaria is the editor-at-large at TIME! He should be fired.

Their punishment is to suspend his column for one month at TIME and be suspended for a month at CNN. . I have always detested this little weasel.

A long-established 'journalist' should know better. It's akin to theft. He's literally STEALING the words of another writer. How would you like it if someone stole something from you that directly relates to your livelihood?

NEW YORK (AP) — Time editor-at-large and CNN host Fareed Zakaria has been suspended by both the magazine and the network for lifting several paragraphs by another writer for his use in a recent Time column.

Zakaria apologized Friday, declaring in a statement he made "a terrible mistake," adding, "It is a serious lapse and one that is entirely my fault."

In a separate statement, Time spokesman Ali Zelenko said the magazine accepts Zakaria's apology, but would suspend his column for one month, "pending further review."

"What he did violates our own standards for our columnists, which is that their work must not only be factual but original; their views must not only be their own but their words as well," Zelenko said.

Shortly afterward, CNN said it had removed from the network's website a blog post that "included similar unattributed excerpts," and taken Zakaria off the air indefinitely.

Shame on him. I'm glad he was caught doing this. Such behavior shouldn't be supported.

I used to like Fareed Zakaria. He basically sold his journalist credentials to the highest bidder in the last several years, the Liberal cash engine.

In all honesty, I'm surprised that he was called on it. I've watched Anderson Cooper blatantly promote false data with opinion (Look at the past Fast and Furious reports compared to what is known now) and he was promoted - not called on for incompetent journalism. I think it was hard work for Zakaria to come up with the kooky fantasyland visions of the extreme left without cheating. He probably ticked someone off and the wheels went into motion for an otherwise overlooked event at CNN. The problem with living a charade for a price.

A month vacation, then he's back to polluting the world. Yeah, sounds fair.

The plagiarised paragraph was almost identical to the original New Yorker article and Zakaria obviously copied and pasted it as I usually do for online posting but an editor of Time magazine should uphold higher journalistic standards than bloggers and he should have credited the original author by citing the article properly.

allisonkilkenny ‏@allisonkilkenny Sweet! I hear The Chomsky referenced one of my articles in his new book about Occupy. #overtbrag

All of you are right - suspension is not enough - he should have been fired. Just shows you what clowns they are at CNN.

Was that a Saturn month? August 10th and back on CNN on August 26th? I was looking forward to a month of Christine Romans. Ali Velshi is a bit of political hack (as is Romans but less so).
