We can't seriously be calling it mere 'speculation' can we? It's not "Oh, I heard from a person from a person that Flynn spoke with the Russians about the sanctions". It was from sources that the Call actually took place, identifying Flynn as the person who had the conversation. And we also know it's gossip since if it was gossip, it wouldn't be considered classified material. So we know they obtained a copy of the calls or at least listened to a copy of the calls.

And since the government didn't authorize the release of that material, it cannot be covered under that provision of the law. So no, excuses don't fly. Leaker committed a crime.

Michael Flynn was a foreign agent for Turkey, but didn't register with the government, so he wasn't just an ordinary citizen. Since the conversations included discussion on lifting sanctions on Russia and he was the National Security Advisor nominee, the situation still fit as to why his name didn't have to be minimized in the transcript.

Obama and several other people were made aware of the situation. McConnell stopped anything from moving forward before the election. I believe the investigation started in July, because that was immediately after the RNC platform change- noted in the dossier and an odd thing to happen since the changes didn't fit the usual Republican thoughts on Ukraine, but did benefit Putin.

The link below may answer some of your questions…. unless you are just determined to see this situation as a partisan. Obama didn't make Flynn not register as a foreign agent, talk to the Russian ambassador about sanctions, or lie about meeting him. If you want to blame Obama, go ahead. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican, so I don't care about the parties. I care that Russians may have compromised or infiltrated high levels of my country's government.

If the Russians were going to run a conspiracy theory to get a preferred candidate in, why Donald Trump? No, seriously. And why would Trump be such a loose cannon? The Manchurian candidate is supposed to be the slick looking dude who hits all of the right notes. Trump was FAR from the Manchurian candidate. If the Russians were going to put intel operatives on the ground to get Trump in office, the very least they could do would be to ensure that Trump looked the part.

They would've gotten intelligence on the pussay video and would have had it erased from the public record, etc. If we know the KGB/FSB and what it does, they leave no stone unturned. Possibly the second most effective agency in the world to Israel's Mossad. They don't play around.

Unless they wanted him to act the part of a chaotic candidate, all the meanwhile dropping bombshells such as immigration and jobs to rally support. Who knows, that just might be it. But I find that unlikely.

Have you followed this story? The government did authorize Sally Yates to tell the White House of the possibility that Flynn was compromised. Sally Yates, as acting AG, informed the White House that Flynn was lying because they had transcripts of calls he made with the Russian ambassador discussing the lifting of sanctions. She informed the White House that Flynn might be susceptible to blackmail, because she knew he was lying.

If someone leaked "classified" information, where is the document? You won't find it published in the media, nor on the internet. Who has a copy of it? OR… are we talking about people talking about the document? That's gossip and it leaks too. Gossiping about why Flynn was in trouble isn't leaking classified information or documents. No one is going to jail over Flynn's phone transcripts.

Did you see anything about Spicer's phone check? Did you know that the phone check was immediately leaked to the media? Did you see anything about the Department of State's memo on leaks? It was immediately leaked to the media. The White House knows the leaks are coming from the White House. It has leaked like a sieve since the inauguration. We know Trump lies. We know Pence lied. We know Flynn lied. We know Sessions lied. We know Carter Page lied. We know Manafort lied. You can look for a reason to blame the leak on someone else, but the leak probably came from within the White House… just like all the others. Someone had to figure out a way to defend Flynn. They went with Pence. It backfired.

I do care about that. I also don't really think Trump colluded with Russia. I believe it to be a fake story perpetuated by the Democrats to undermine the Presidency. IMO, The Obama Administration was far too corrupt to not wiretap and so was Hillary and the DNC. So was the DOJ for that matter. There was too much at stake.

As far as telling lies goes, You can put the Obama Administration at the top of the list.

My opinion- Putin causing as much chaos as possible is the reason he interfered with the election. He wants to discredit democracy and the United States, hates Hillary Clinton, and stands to make a lot of money if he could get sanctions lifted. Putin was KGB and known to be ruthless. I think it is unwise to underestimate just how brutal and vicious Putin can be. They invented a word- kompromat, because they will use dirty tricks to compromise people. Then, when you can be useful to them, they use you. Do you not find it the least bit odd that Trump has been critical of veterans, war heroes, the judicial system, Mexico, Germany, Australia, the media… practically everyone and everything… except Putin. Not a negative mention when it comes to him. I'm not saying he's compromised, but if he was, how would he act any differently?

Ok, but Hillary can be bought and she already OK'ed Uranium to be sold to Russia..... She was a weak link he could exploit. Why not chose her instead of a wildcard like Trump? Trump vows to build up the military, Hillary would have scrapped it even further.

Putin should have wanted Clinton in office. She was a total crap leader and could be exploited at will.

I don't know that Trump, himself, colluded with the Russians. I do think Roger Stone did, and I think that we'll see evidence of it sooner or later.

If Obama had the ability to swing the election to Clinton and was unethical enough to do so, Trump wouldn't be in the White House. I think Obama was aware of the situation, but underestimated how deep things went until it was too late. I think he was thinking like a politician rather than Commander In Chief.

Whether Obama lied or not, that does not give Trump an excuse to lie. Trump's lies are so often and so large, he is losing credibility world wide. That is not good for our country. He's cried wolf and hasn't taken responsibility for anything. When something does go wrong, we won't know if he is telling us the truth or not. With North Korea acting up, this is a bad situation.

I think they tried but Hillary was such a crap candidate, not even the Obama campaign machine could save her. Also, he wasn't as good as he thought he was anyway, he literally destroyed the Democratic Party in both houses. Oddly, high approval for being a good guy, low approval for his policies and direction he took the nation. Sort of like the really nice guy at the diner but he can't cook anything.......

I don't care about Trump tweeting about Obama and his wiretapping. I would rather have a straight shooter who is brash than someone drafting a huge legislative bill in a back office than having it signed before anyone really knew what was in it. Lies like that cost us trillions of dollars. Obama gets a pass on a lot of things he never should have and he dug us in a hole that will be brutal to get out of. I am not excusing one lie for another but I can live with tweets. I can't live with crappy legislation and crappy Executive Orders that destroy busineses ability to do business.

We'll see how the next 4-8 years play out though. Hopefully, we are all in a better spot when it's over. I said the same about Obama. Now I can see where we are.

You see Trump as a straight shooter? Seriously? He lies when the truth would serve him better. He lies so much, I don't even fact check him anymore. I just assume it's probably a lie and it usually is. If he's tweeting and it's not a lie, it's some kind of narcissistic ego stroke.

I'm seriously concerned about the next 4 years. I don't see a way for Trump to be re-elected, if he even makes it through 4 years. He doesn't seem to understand how things work in government or law. He's alienating our allies and emboldening our enemies. North Korea and Russia are testing weapons. What has Trump done or said about treaty violations? Bupkis… and he's cutting the State Dept. to the bone, despite being told by his own people that what he cuts in diplomacy, he'll have to make up in bullets. He is, by far, the worst President in my lifetime, and I was a teenager during Watergate, so lots of Presidents. I really never expected to see another President under FBI investigation in my life, but here we are.

We're not talking about the AG's authorization. We're talking about the MEDIA having access to those transcripts. Pay attention. That's a federal crime. Either they had direct access to the transcripts, or they HEARD the transcripts and released it to the public. Either way, the transcripts were leaked. Do you comprehend this now or are you still lost? The Leaker committed a felony, there's a rat in the Federal Government and most likely within our intelligence community. This however, does not disturb you it seems.

The conversation between Yates and other Federal Officials ranks as Classified Information as well. We went over this JUST last year. You know, with a different case.

Oh and for the record, Sessions didn't lie, not even in omission. He just didn't state it in the most elementary of ways possible, because he believed(wrongly) that he was among colleagues and not wolves. Especially when you consider that one of the two meetings was SANCTIONED by the previous administration.

The Russian Conspiracy is a Conspiracy. The REAL Conspiracy I'm interested in, is the one involving the DNC, the FBI and CIA and government leaks. There's a very real cover up of moles, hidden agendas all meant to take down Trump. Put it very simply, the corruption is so blatantly open that Comey shouldn't even bother to testify since his word isn't believable. It's less believable after he said he wouldn't prosecute the leakers. Now I KNOW the rat's inside.

I see him as better than Obama and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Straight shooter? Not sure yet but I like that he seems more dedicated to getting things done and moving forward. He likes to win and winners do better than losers. What are the big lies he has told? The tweet about Obama wiretapping? I doubt that is a lie. But you have already made up your mind so there is no sense discussing it with you. I am not going to change it, even if proof arises.

Trump did not embolden our enemies. North Korea and Iran were mocking Obama every chance they got. He even paid Iran a ransom to get some hostages back and delivered to them billions more in money by relieving some sanctions. Yet, they have been firing off ballistic missiles almost daily and well before Trump took office. The White House knew they were not abiding by the treaty they signed and did nothing. Honestly, Obama was the worst Foreign Policy President we have ever had. I don't get how you can even compare Trump to him yet. At least Trump isn't travelling the world on "we're so sorry" tour. That was an epic disgrace.

We'll see how the next 4 years play out but Obama surely didn't leave Trump much to work with. Trump will have to go it alone without the support of the democrats, the MSN and the former administration spreading lies about the Russians and collusion. I wish him a lot of luck. He will need it.

That's not an answer, that's just another slanderous statement lol. It appears all this Conspiracy Theory is, is slander against the 45th POTUS.
I'm not motivated or convinced by slander, and neither is a Judge. This case has absolutely nowhere to go. The focus should be on the leaker, who I'm prepared to go above what I stated previously: Not only did he leak the classified information, the leaker probably STOLE that information. It wasn't approved for press release, and only a select few have access. Furthermore, there wasn't a wiretap order, but there was surveillance. All of this points to a renegade agent in the field.

So true! I just don't see the sense in Putín trying to get Trump elected; during the campaign lefties constantly expressed concern over Trump pressing "the button", like they expected he would easily lose his temper and fire off a nuke, why would this be an attractive president to Putín?

Hillary was quite a preferable alternative for someone like Putín; a completely predictable consumate political actor with carefully rehearsed and highly polished diplomatic positions who could be relied on to respond to whatever events in the most classic manner, much easier to handle, not at all volatile, Putín would know precisely how far he could go and what gestures to make.

Given these two alternatives, considering the long forecasted Hillary victory, Putín should have been greasing Hillary's tracks, helping get her installed, earning some points along the campaign with careful praise for her always wise statements and some barbs at the outlandish alternative.

Lefties go on about Trump's seemingly homoerotic fascination with diminutive Putín, I've seen nothing to suggest such attraction is reciprocated.

With Trump installed we're still waiting to see his forecasted embrace of Putín, sanctions remain, Tillerson urging Montenegro be admitted to NATO, massive military buildup, troops sent to the Baltics, a Russophobe as ambassador to Moscow... None of this is any surprise from Trump, all quite anticipated, but Putín prefered this to Hillary?
