Wow that's some launch from my narrow on point comment about functions unique to the Senate. Kudos.

Yeah, we know what the solution is. Protect the known at risk amongst us, drop the masks, get the virus, get back to the business of America, business.

South Dakota turned down PUA. SD says thanks but since they didn't close their economy they've rebounded from the Corona downturn and have an unemployment rate of 7% they can handle the issue without federal aid.

Oh, and have you been watching Sweden's Covid numbers? Mycket intressant!

They're probably all headed to PR again.

^ Sweden, image 12 Aug, Covid graph 12 Aug.

Spin it however you wish but ya can't deny the numbers.

Trump's EOs were spot on. I'd argue that the $300 PUA extension is low and should be kept at 600 through the end of the year, but the President had a fixed amount to work with and needed it to last through Oct.

The unemployment figures will probably drop below 10% nationally this month, proving the economy isn't wrecked. The need to continue to keep the forcefully unemployed whole is morally paramount. This was a wholly man made, politically manipulated crisis, no need for workers caught in the middle to suffer.

The argument can be made that further stimulus is unnecessary. I'm there as it relates to finding states beyond direct Covid costs to citizens and emergency services and narrowly defined fundamental government functions, again with emphasis, that were borne directly from Covid response.

    Cheers

I hadn't, but like every other country in the world, they are better than ours... Is there a point to that?

BTW, The US still has a "reconsider travel" warning to Sweden... I'm frankly amazed they haven't shut their borders to us anyway.

There's also a strong correlation between socialism and poverty, lol.

    Funny how that works.

That's the main problem. Too much money in DC to dole out to family & friends. Socialism sucks the money straight to the top.
There's also a correlation between lack of personal responsibility and poverty. I think it was Thomas Sowell who said something along the lines of, "There are two things everyone can do to avoid being poor - finish high school and don't have kids out of wedlock."

The economic problem was caused by state and local governments that forced businesses to close.

That isn't what I said though and it's a moot point isn't it? Economic downturns historical lead to civil unrest

No doubt about that. They're Too Big To Fail and To Big To Jail.

Ain't it interesting how long time members of both houses of Congress, of both parties, with average salaries of $174,000, retire as multi-millionaires? They must have some top-notch financial advisors up there! Yeah, right.

It's almost like they have inside knowledge of the stock markets and cut deals for kickbacks to siphon off foreign aid. I mean, if I was more naive, I'd say it's exactly that.

Of course, folks like McConnell just marry the enemy and their father-in-law gives the newlyweds millions. Congressional thieves like Feinstein have to work a bit harder to steal money for their husband's business.
