It looks as if a group of congressmen are trying to bring back the part of the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court invalidated: SOURCE Personally, I don't think this is necessary. There is a mechanism to challenge voting laws that are unfair. I don't think it is right to single out certain states or regions and force them to get permission to change their laws while other places can make any change they want without any oversight. More importantly, the act was based on the problems in certain areas in the 60s. Most of the people in authority then are gone, and most of the people in authority now have grown up in a time of civil rights. It is unlikely that current leaders will move to pass laws like the ones the VRA was created to prevent. What do you think?
