When its breaking and entering a secure perimeter in a national security area, breaking through the only thing separating a large portion of our elected government from an angry mob.

When they're breaking and entering into a nat sec area where people are sheltering? Yep they could.

If you break into a building it doesn't matter if you are unarmed and don't receive a warning.

Yes they show an unlawful shooting, he did not even have a clear view of the person and admits he could not see if she was brandishing or holding a weapon. No other officer, all of whom had the better view believed she posed an threat requiring lethal force. So if he actions were all justified why did he refuse to cooperate with the investigation as he is required to do as a police officer.

Why hasn't the full report of the investigation been release now that we know what they were hiding?

He had a clear view of her, and a backstop for his shot. She didn't need to be holding a weapon in her hand to present a threat, and you have personally defended the killing of unarmed people in the past. And, again, I have no evidence that he actually refused any such cooperation, and frankly, if I were to take your claim here seriously, then you'd always consider pleading the 5th to be evidence of guilt. I doubt that is the case.

It's strange how the party of law and order suddenly don't support the police anymore.
    I wonder why? :hiding:

No he didn't by his own admittance. He could barely see one shoulder, could not see her hands. He admits that as he fired is when her torso was exposed. And you have personally vilified police officers who killing of unarmed people WAS justified in the past even when they were violently resisting arrest and threatening the police. He did not even invoke the 5th here and they let him skate and he STILL HAS HIS JOB even though he refused to cooperate with the investigation.

    From the ACLU

    A. Police Shootings. Virtually every big city police department has this information on hand, since officers are required to file a report after every firearms discharge.

Why do you say that, I support the police when they act LAWFULLY, when they don't I don't, how about you?

Republicans do support the police, but they want police held responsible for their actions. And, an internal investigation doesn’t pass the smell test for honest review.

He could see her torso, then? You are contradicting yourself. Make up your mind.

    Example?

So refusing to cooperate is evidence of guilt? You willing to commit to that? No, no you aren't.

    And?

You've defended the murder of people who did far less than what Babbitt did.

What if Babbitt hadn't actually done ANYTHING illegal that day? What if a random person had seen video of her there that day, in an area where she committed no crime in entering, and committing no crime. But that random person decided she must have been up to something. Then he sees her walking down the road a few days later. He and his buddies chase her down in their trucks. One tries to force her off the road with his vehicle. One threatens to blow her head off. They then, in their own words, "trap her like a rat" and the third person points a shotgun at her head. She continues trying to run away and places the truck between her and the guy pointing a shotgun at her. He swings his shotgun around the front of his vehicle and points it at her again. Desperate, she tries to grab the barrel of his gun to defend herself. According to your previous arguments, she is the one initiating force here, and it's now okay to shoot her in the face.

You are okay with her being shot in that situation, but not in this one? Pure insanity.

No straw here. Just looking for qualification from the other poster. Dude shot randomly and because he hit an unarmed woman, it does seem to be an appropriate question to ask given that video evidence exists that doesn't show her "breaching" a door when she was shot. Oh, and she was standing in close proximity to another capitol police officer who looked pretty freaked out when the shot was fired as well.

He didn't shoot randomly. She was jumping through a broken window when she was shot, and encouraging the violent mob to follow her. He had a clear sight picture of her. He didn't shoot through the door. He shot directly at her (pro tip: that's not random). Last I checked, the officers on the other side of the door had already started walking down stairs and came back up after the shot.

Being upset that Byrd is back on the job after being exonerated doesn't excuse the Federalist's hit piece designed to gin up The Following.

Department of Justice Closes Investigation into the Death of Ashli Babbitt

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice will not pursue criminal charges against the U.S. Capitol Police officer involved in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, the Office announced today.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia’s Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section and the Civil Rights Division, with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division (IAD), conducted a thorough investigation of Ms. Babbitt’s shooting. Officials examined video footage posted on social media, statements from the officer involved and other officers and witnesses to the events, physical evidence from the scene of the shooting, and the results of an autopsy. Based on that investigation, officials determined that there is insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution. Officials from IAD informed a representative of Ms. Babbitt’s family today of this determination.

Time for you to start another phony outrage thread. This one is a failure.

Here's the video. Look down the hall, people milling around talking on their phones. Look on her side of the door, more police than protestors, none of them acting as if someone was about to be killed by the protesters, no guns being drawn. She barely gets up to the window in the door and is shot and killed when she is not threatening ANYONE with death or serious bodily injury.

That does not refute the fact he NEVER gave a statement according to the new reporing and refused to cooperate with the investigation and was allowed to do so without invoking the 5th amendment. Yes we know what was reported earlier now we know different.

But if he did where is it? Let's read it.

Where are the statements from the other officers, where is the official report on this homicide? Why is he on the force after refusing to cooperate with the investigation?

I've seen the video. She "barely gets up to the window" . . . the window allowing her entrance past the final police barricade, and she encourages the violent mob to follow her. Yes, by any reasonable measure, that's a threat. You don't get to just rally a violent mob to cross the final police barricade a few feet from their intended victims after they've already crossed other barricades, shouted death threats, and beaten police officers, and get away with it. BTW, you should listen to some of the **** these people are saying to the police on the other side of the door. It isn't pretty.

Nonsense. The term Nazi has long sense taken on a generic meaning broader than the original meaning, just like brand names Q-tip, Kleenex, or Band-Aid. Nazi is commonly used to mean totalitarian thugs, which perfectly describes anyone here who supports killing unarmed citizens during protests.

You don’t like that use of the term? Too bad.

I could be wrong about there still being some police close by; I'd have to review again. But as for the rest, the video absolutely supports my statements, without any sliver of a doubt.
