You've written a lot of dumb stuff, but you outdid yourself this time.
We don't even know if immunity lasts very long. What we do know, however, we can control the virus without even a full lockdown.

    Control, yes. Eradicate, no.

Science shows that lockdowns do more damage than the Swedish method. I have posted an analysis and data supporting this determination.

Please don't think I'm trying to defend Trump, but he was certainly framed in Russiagate.

I try to analyze this Covid thing as a medical event and not as a political event, though I know it very much is the latter. There are the two angles, and I prefer to discuss the former.

Here we go again, Trump and Fauci are at it Trump says COVID-19 will go away without a vaccine and Fauci says the opposite. Who do you side with? This is nothing but a runaround over and over again. rump leads us into wishful thinking. Fauci would want the people to do is stay shut down for another two weeks. COVID-19 won't be over until vaccine is developed. Again who will we side with? You be the judge.

Whoever wants to preserve your life. Whoever understands that in order for any economy to be in good health, the people must be in good health.

In an emergency, none of that matters a good g-d damn. A solid leader knows to behave like one, in a crisis. That often means throwing out the Good Times playbook.

Stay home until your national transmission rate falls below 1%. If you can't, then adjust your behaviour to fit a high rate of commuity transmission. Don't go to indoor public places (at all) .. stores, cinemas, restaurants, etc. And stay away from crowded outdoor places. Wear a mask in case you're a carrier, and don't touch man made surfaces outside the home. Natural surfaces are fine (plants, dirt, etc). If you must buy gas, do it very very carefully .. and make sure your sanitiser protocol is tight as drum before you get there. Skip one step in the process, and those thousand hands on that gas pump before you will tell.

PS: As for your comment that you feel you're wasting your life away .. that doesn't apply to everyone. Research and anecdotal evidence is showing a surprising percentage who are actually thriving. Far less stress in their lives, and saving huge amounts of money .. just for starters. Then there are the less obvious benefits like eating less, and more considerately in order to protect health. More exercise as result of travel restrictions and boredom. More contact with remote loved ones. New skills being learned. More time spent outdoors gardening and walking and so on.

He was probably just completely out of his depth, and went for the Denial option rather than reveal his ineptitude.

Unbelievably careless. No one who works near leaders should be doing anything which exposes them to infection. Nor should anyone in their households, for obvious reasons.

No one knows how this is going to turn out. We could develop an effective vaccine and end the threat. Or worse--we can't create a vaccine, we don't have effective treatments, and immunity lasts less than a year.

If it's the latter, we should be able to devise ways to suppress it, test for it, trace it, isolate people, and use PPE masks to cut transmission rates to avoid having to choose between letting the virus win and implementing social distancing.
We should be able to suppress the virus to get it down to a very few cases. Anyway, without a vaccine or effective treatment, especially if immunity is short term, being careful about spreading it might be the best we can do.

I can't imagine packed subways in big cities without riders wearing HEPA filter masks. Such measures would be unnecessary in less dense areas where each individual runs across a lot fewer people. Has to be some advantage to country air.

Whatever we might do, the strategy works only as long as we hold the transmission rate down. City life may prove less appealing.

Some businesses are too dangerous now to let them go. Concerts, clubs, sporting events with packed stadiums--I'm not sure most folks are interested at this point, anyway.

I think we're likely to find effective treatments as we have with HIV and we could live long lives with that.

I'd like to see us limp along for a couple of years--keep our airliners in mothballs, hotels, too, and cross our fingers we get a vaccine. If it turns out we have to end some businesses as they are now because we don't have a vaccine, then we can decide in due course. I can't imagine
How is letting the virus have its way for a couple of years, killing perhaps millions of people, going to help us with people hiding to get away from it? We'll have an economic disaster on our hands if people stay away from stores, theaters, restaurants, airliners, etc. Opening up in the middle of a pandemic likely won't work.
    They don't in British Columbia.
I'd like to see someone open up a 2,000-student high school and make it work. (I taught high school for many years.) Schools are going to be tough. I think students will have maybe half the number of hours on campus. What will they do the rest of the time if their parents are working?

What about elementary kids? Who is going to watch them if both parents work?

Other PPE? Why are respirators in short supply?

Trouble is the virus is so ubiquitous there that infection is almost inevitable

We might be able to effectively eradicate it if we can hold down the transmission rate.

Roy Horn, one half of the famous Siegfried & Roy magic duo, passed away in Las Vegas on Friday from complications related to COVID-19, his rep confirmed.

    He was 75 years old.
"Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend," Siegfried Fischbacher said in a statement. "From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world. There could be no Siegfried without Roy, and no Roy without Siegfried."

"Roy was a fighter his whole life including during these final days," he continued. "I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff at Mountain View Hospital who worked heroically against this insidious virus that ultimately took Roy's life."

On April 28, Roy's rep announced that the magic icon had tested positive for the coronavirus. At the time he was said to be "responding well to treatment."

You cannot hold down the transmission rate. That is painfully obvious.

That's correct. Trump tests negative and some of the top people should be testing negative. But what about the rest of us? Trump doesn't care whether we test positive or negative
