    Because apples and oranges. It is not the same by any measure. It's a country in which almost everyone is middle class. Outside of vacation the average Swiss travels less in a year than most Americans do to and from work in a week. They've got basically one level of government Compared to our four and all of ours are quasi independent when the aren't completely so. Come to think of it, it's not even apples to oranges more like plums to planetary bodies.

    According to online Wikipedia as of 2016 Switzerland had a population of over 7 million of which well over 2 million were first generation immigrants to Switzerland. At any given time a fairly good size number of Swiss may be working or residing elsewhere in the E.U.

    Question; Are identical Twins a good example of ''Apples to Apples Comparison''?

    According to GARYD; ''NOPE! Because one of the twins acts differently''

    Well, of course not.....''if one wants to be really picky''

    Bottomline;

    Both Switzerland and Obamacare's Health Exchanges share the following principles;

    Higher the deductibles, lower the premiums
    Higher the premiums, lower deductibles

    Wrong. In this case they arent identical twins. They don't have the cost of furnishing medical care to a county only slightly smaller than Switzerland that contains barely 200 people and is 150 miles from the nearest ER.

    But their health care doesn't pay for everything. IOW, people still have to pay copays and out of pocket up to deductibles, etc - roughly a third of what they spend on health care.

    "Because one-third of Swiss health care is financed through direct patient copayments and it is illegal to insure oneself against most of these copayments, Swiss citizens have to rely, to a large extent, on their private savings in order to prepare for future health risks. As a result, the Swiss health care system relies heavily on capitalization. Because they have to pay a significant portion of health care costs themselves, the Swiss must set aside money for future needs. They find themselves "empowered" by a system in which they must make rational choices and informed decisions."

    "In 2015, the Swiss state contributedExternal link CHF13.8 billion to the health care system, or 18% of the overall cost, which came to a whopping CHF77.7 billion. The rest was footed in part by compulsory basic health insurance (35%) and out-of-pocket payments by households (28%).
    Put another way, the system cost each Swiss resident CHF782 per month."

    Where are you getting the idea that their system has no profits?
