You are delusional in your thinking; you do not realize it.

Yep. It's insulting and offensive; the catalyst for garnering contempt, is that he/she doesn't care or thinks that it's humorous.

Why don't Black Americans clamor to the GOP? (I don't think that needs to be answered at this point.)

No, we're saying your words and actions suggest that. Because they do. I don't think the GOP is consciously racist. However, their bubble is almost entirely composed of southern white folks and rich white folks. Obviously, they're doing something wrong. Mitt Romney got 2% of the black vote. Fox News has 1% of it's audience that is black.

Something the party is doing is the problem. And most of the time, it's demonizing, stereotyping and pretty much saying everything but 'filthy ni***rs stole my money'.

This sentence right here is why the GOP will never get the 20% minority vote they need. You literally are saying what they're tired of hearing and what turns them off. And conservatives are too stupid to see that.

I'm just trying to separate what you are saying groups like CPAC and the GOP are saying from... what they are really saying.

Although I've heard of the cantalope calves remark, I'm not sure who is saying Mexicans are both lazy and drug runners. I'm assuming it's not the same person. See, that's why it looks like you are creating a strawman, attacking it, and declaring victory. But if you have a program that the GOP should follow to get minority votes, I'd be interested in hearing it, although I suspect it will also be total nonsense.

I doubt the GOP is going to lose the House this year, so if you are betting, make your offer.

You're delusional. The only thing I see from republicans is them groveling to the left to prove that they are not racist by appointing minorities to jobs.

The GOP knows they have a serious demographic problem.

The problem is they don't have any real policies. They just don't understand that in order to keep minorities from rolling their eyes at the "scruffy old white men" (public opinion of the GOP), they need to physically go into the slums, ethnic communities, and historically black campuses and attempt to make a difference. They have to be humble enough to LISTEN to the concerns of minorities. However, this requires confronting the very things they fear doing.

Rand Paul is the favorite for the GOP in 2016. Rand Paul will get laughed out of every minority community in this country unless he can sincerely articulate policies that will truly help minorities. Minorities must also FEEL that Rand Paul has their best interest at heart. This is where the GOP fails. Regardless of one's opinion of the correct way to do things, SINCERITY is the disconnect between the GOP and minority voters. Policy support will come if the sincerity is there.

Now, this video here shows tidbits of the questions he faced at howard... but talking points don't get by college educated black students well immersed in their own history (they know the current GOP establishment did NOT free the slaves):

It starts with being humble and listening to your potential voters, first.

The GOP helped engineer the demographics problem. I have no sympathy.
You'll never get the minority vote. Conservatives don't understand ideology. They don't understand the history of ideology. They don't understand "minorities"

    They really don't understand anything.

Honestly, I believe it's much simpler than you think. All the Republicans have to do is flat out boot the social conservative racists from their party, and ultimately their problems will be solved.

Deciding to pander to the racist conservative Democrats has been the biggest mistake they've ever made.

I'm not declaring victory. What I'm saying is it's not messaging of the GOP. It's everything else BUT messaging and insincerity in how they try to address minority population. They often fumble and are transparent. "I want to help the black community by removing programs that help their children and target the black community as the first to have those programs removed." Combine that with very silly ways to stereotype them and you are beyond a messaging problem. Right now, GOP and blacks are like oil and water. They're not going to mix and black people aren't in a position to change, the GOP is.

    Pretty much.

    GOP Platform:

    Cut taxes on the rich
    Starve the government
Cut programs that aid low income families

It is a perfect recipe for alienating low income families. Race is funny because low income white voters have no problem voting against their own interests due to fear mongering.

Have you noticed how the other conservatives in this thread ignore the blatant racist remarks and instead want to deflect the conversation by badgering about "not understanding" a racial remark, or talking about why anyone is a democrat.....

Honestly don't get the point of this thread. It seems more like a Nelson thing than an attempt at genuine discussion.

For those interested in more than just a list of the questions made, here is the full video. Q's start around 24:00, I'm watching it now, and find that Paul actually did a good job answering. I don't think the fact that some people ask poignant questions proves anything.

Rand Paul has actually been talking about policies that will help minorities. What he is not doing, that it seems Democrats are suggesting he needs to do, is advocate a policy specifically intended to help blacks, not people, or latinos, not people. Speaking for myself, I'm not interested in pie politics, that gives this group this slice, that group that slice. I'm interested in policy that is good for people, that isn't unduly harmful to any group of people. Good policy is good for whites and minorities - period.

Well I said at the beginning of this thread it's pointless for the GOP to target minorities as minorities. It's not a battle they can win, and they've wasted millions over the years trying to do it.

So I agree, the GOP isn't going to win over black people for the foreseeable future, at least not this generation.

There's a reason why white nationalists go on political forums that have a high amount of conservative posters. It's because they know they'll find some people sympathetic to their views. White nationalists are conservatism taken to the extreme. No different than the KKK, except they don't wear the stupid "outfits" the KKK does.

The republicans have to do something if they expect to even have a chance to put up a viable candidate in 2016; right now they are floundering due to infighting and lack of direction.

Really can you tell us 5 Republicans that have appointed minorities to jobs just for the sake of politics.

Pretty much. They are the guys that complain about "race cards", when it is they who have furnished an entire "deck" (of those same cards).

    'Action' Committee? Really?

CROWN THRILLS AS OLD WHITE GEEZER TAKES BREAK FROM HUNTIN' POSSUM.

CPAC's "next presidents of the United States" have been Phil Gramm, Steve Forbes, Gary Bauer, George W. Bush, Rudy Giuliani, George Allen, and, subsequently, either Willard Romney or a Paul, père ou fils.

When the only "success" such a granfalloon can cite over the years is subsequently as welcome on the GOP campaign trail as a kidney stone the size of Uluru, it underscores how relevant these "Action" Boys are.

You'll be happy to know that I don't represent the GOP. Sure, I prefer them to the Democrats, but they don't adequately represent me in our Government.

But I don't believe you. You wouldn't vote for the GOP because you don't believe in conservatism. "White racism" is just the excuse you use. If I was to believe in the ideas that the Democrat party put forth, I wouldn't vote for the Republicans just because there were racists in the Democrat party.

I just turned 30. Maybe that's "old white fart" compared to the high school Obama voter demographic. Oh well.

I agree, especially on libertarians. I see them as nothing more than shoulder shuggers in the battle against Marxism. When one team wants to go to war with you, and the other team just says "oh well, let's let the free market decide", there is only one winner. The enemy of Marxism must be strong and focused in order to be a credible threat.
