Nothing happened five years ago that wasn't happening before.

Corporations and media are playing up diversity initiatives. It's PR for business and fodder for media. The question is how much these initiatives impact society. From what I see, they have little impact.

The leftwing ideology isn't permeating business. White men still rule the roost, but there are more opportunities for women and minorities.

Studying diversity is okay and something we should all agree needs attention. We need some agreed upon facts before we start talking about problems and potential solutions. My opinion as a history instructor is that awareness is the solution, not a bunch of quotas. Anyway, what we do (or not do) about what we find is the key.

Systemic racism exists, schools have never ignored it, but they haven't been teaching Marxist theory to children. Is some teacher out of four million in the country teaching Marxist theory to students? Probably, but it isn't part of the curriculum.

Few were torn down, many were removed legally. It seems fitting to remove statues of traitors like Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Nathan Bedford Forrest and Jefferson Davis, especially when many of the statues were erected during Jim Crow as a political statement. Banning books and movies? Lots of rightwinger activity along these lines. Burned down cities? A tiny minority of criminals, yes, but not "the left" as rightwingers claim. Eliminated exit exams? Not unreasonable considering the poor quality of underfunded inner city schools.

If I was still teaching and someone accused me of teaching CRT, I would sue them. They would lose, too. Nothing short of a clear public statement in writing they were wrong would even make me consider withdrawing the suit.
