I also explained it had it's genesis with the prison writings of Marxist Antonio Gramsci, was picked up by a group of failed Marxists at the Frankfurt School, who immigrated to the US in the 1930s because of Hitler, and proceeded to put Cultural Marxism in motion. It didn't really get going until the late 1960s, when America's nationalism and traditions were attacked.

Many of the professors urging the youth demonstrations and dropping out of the traditional society in the 1960s were Cultural Marxists

It was a well planned covert effort to manipulate and take over the universities, media, arts (Hollywood, especially), etc.

Feminism was a huge weapon for Cultural Marxists, and many of the early angry feminists, such as Betty Friedan, who advocated women leaving their husbands and children, were Cultural Marxists. It's purpose was to destroy the traditional family structure, which is part of the Cultural Marxist agenda.

Despite some with Marxist ideologies did some things in the 60s I dont see how you connect it with the Frankfurt School in Columbia. Marx was not even the reigning philosophical figure of influence for many of the prominent members. Hegel, Kant, even Sopenhauer influenced more ideas than Marx.
