Maybe or maybe not.... This is a point where experts discuss endless about. Or in other words, ask 3 experts and you get 5 different answers...

And what about damages to the environment or even potential realistic danger for environment?

That is where the disposal of consumed resources is dealt with.

Really? Disposal of consumed resources is only a part and not the part I'm talking about!

Still the production of resources often causes environmental damage as we all know. That for example fracking contaminates drinking water is proofed as we all know, but fracking happens further. Damage to environment? Who cares, important is profit! Those people who live in areas with contaminated drinking water can move away or not?

Don't know what you're babbling about here. I don't own any railroads or pipelines. In any case, there is already a pipeline network, and the XL is running over an aquifier in the Dakotas, and it's completely unnecessary and won't reduce costs by much at all. Don't know what that has to so with Albany, NY or whatever.

The Dakota Access Pipeline is now delivering oil.

    From the Associated Press:

Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners announced that the 1,200-mile line carrying North Dakota oil through South Dakota and Iowa to a distribution point in Illinois had begun commercial service. The Dakota Access pipeline and the Energy Transfer Crude Oil Pipeline from Illinois to the Gulf Coast together make up the $4.8 billion Bakken Pipeline system, which ETP said has commitments for about 520,000 barrels of oil daily.

“The pipeline will transport light, sweet crude oil from North Dakota to major refining markets in a more direct, cost-effective, safer and more environmentally responsible manner than other modes of transportation, including rail or truck,” the company said in a statement.

    That’s what I call progress.
