Rather the contrary. If not for the Eastern Front, you guys wouldn't been able to put a foot on the beach in 1944.
NHL players come from all over the world... except Germany, it seems. Imagine the NHL Russians back into the OAR team... I believe there was a Canadian or two among the German team.
Of course it was a Canadian lawyer - the dope control agency is in Montreal, far from the other OG bureaus and their nasty influence.
Well, the gold medals for ice hockey is a nice thing, especially after 26 years gap, but unfortunately this olympics wasn't some sort of achievement - either for Russian sports or for the international olympic movement. Too many scandals, too much dirt. 70 Russian leading athletes were banned from this olympic games, even though the international court for sport said most of them were clean as WADA failed to prove otherwise. Nevertheless Russian team, wich was presented by the second row athletes, managed to win 17 medals, it's the 6th result on total qauntity along with South Korea. Not so bad under given conditions. Anyway it looks like now WADA rules the olympic games, but not IOC. IOC also failed to attract NHL at olympics and this is very bad. Without NHL the olympic hockey is not that it must be. So, IOC has two major fails and it will be continued.
Well, field hockey you make a reference is not ice hockey we are talking about. Field hockey is more like football. Looks like Germans like much more balls than hockey washer But currently Germany is not so weak in ice hockey. At least they are better in hockey than Russia in football.
Yeah....I'm aware...I'm quite familiar with canada....8 months of winter&4months of lousy ice fishing, so it's not a wonder you'll do great in hockey. If there's no frozen pond/puddle available, any snow covered road/street will do,.
LOL, right, sure we couldn't have. Basically if US would've jumped into European theater in late 41 or sometime in 42, ww2 would've been over in 1943 yet. US was fighting the Japs after Pearl....they didn't have an "axe to grind " with the Krauts so to speak.
They banned clean Russia athletes from the Olympics who were the top in their field to lessen the competition, which shows the level some countries are willing to stoop to - not only to win, but also for the propaganda benefits in defaming Russia. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of the sports, knows the two athletes were slipped something so they could test positive after they tested negative in all the tests. The Duran suspects the CIA, since they have a history of deception and underhanded methods, and since defaming through propaganda is Washington's chosen method of maintaining dominance in world affairs.
A good people had a depression, hyperinflation, then another depression. It broke a fragile democracy. Because the Allies didn't make the same mistake twice after defeating Germany. Russia went from a monarchy to socialist police state to a kleptocracy.
Yes...true...I keep forgetting about Vancouver/Victoria. I was there 3 yrs ago in Feb and I could honestly say I could walk outside in jogging shorts for a good part of an afternoon.) I'm used to the prairies like MB&SK, or what my late father would refer to as "British Siberia"!).
Sobo....that easy! Germans are natural industrialists....look at products and industry that's produced....too numerous to mention. Also in agriculture, Fendt , Steyr, Fritz, Wirtgen, Liebherr, just to name a few, it's the world over. Give a German a piece of iron....he will make a Mercedes....or King Tiger tank). Yeah I here russkis are great engineers??? Funny....I don't see anyone lining up to buy their cars?? Or tractors?
It was. Russia was starting to take off as an economy under the Czar, but it was still behind. The Soviets destroyed any progress it had made. If only the WW1 Allies had treated Germany bettter after WW1, I don't think Hitler would have ever been able to grab power.
It should be noted that Hitler never managed to get more than 24% in fair elections. Hitler was not a german thing alone. He got massive funds, also from american companies. Just look at Henry Ford. There were influential groups in the world that wanted Hitler in charge.
Yes, he was. He represented a vengeful undercurrent of German culture at the time. He got more popular over time, until defeat seemed a clear outcome. It would be interesting though to think what might have happened if the Communists had attained power instead. It would've pushed the conflict with Russia back a bit. The question is, who would've gained more out of this stay of conflict, Germany or Russia? Would France, Italy, and Spain have gone Communist as well?
