In a previous post you calmly accepted democrat intransigence and implied it was up to republicans to court independents

I take that to mean you will be proxies for the dems and make their demands your demands

So we repubs should negociate with you about how many steps we are willing to go in your direction and how many of our values we will discard

Seems that Trump is going to sign the deal. Not one penny for his wall. Both Mitch and Chuck are telling him to sign it, so he's got no support to do anything else.

Meanwhile Sarah Huckabee Sanders (aka Bagdad Bob) is still claiming he's going to get the wall built.

    Sad.

I make more money than you and always have. I never took drugs because I knew of easier ways to alter my state, but it was my time in that altered state, not my "normal" one, that has earned me the handsome living I enjoy now and always have
You get all teary eyed over innocent "humans" as long as they are in another person's body, but then suddenly want children to starve as an object lesson to parents who don't plan their diseases properly once they leave the sacred ranks of the "unborn". The "unborn" are like the "undead" except that they're far more perniciously a silly myth
No immigration laws are what we had throughout the 19th century and that lack is why America is great today. It's why you're here, just like me. If the Founding Fathers knew there were people who wanted to turn away others who wanted to help them all get richer because they were afraid of competition they would horsewhip those losers in the street. We deport the wrong people

I dont know how much money you make

but liberal city streets are filled with liberal braggart drug abusers who ruined their lives and we are forced to support

You need to read a little history

Ellis Island existed to process immigrants and rejected many who were not up to our standards

You're misreading a lot. Meeting somewhere in the middle isn't going with one side or the other. Number say each party has to cooperate with the other to get things done. Standing alone, on principle, refusing to play give and take, we have stalemate or gridlock. Which is where we have been since at least 2010, each party trying to stop the other at no matter the cost. That Getting 40,50,60% of what you want isn't worth it unless you get 100%. This is what America as a whole is tired of. This is why independents can vote Democratic in 2006, 2008 and switch to the GOP 2010, back Democratic in 2012, back to the GOP 2014 and 16 and back once again to the Democrats in 2018.

They're looking for balance, not extremes left or right. A balance. We'll continue to vote back and forth until. the two major realize most Americans don't want extremes. People will continue to desert the two major parties because of their extremism. Just watch and see.

The democrats are not going to give anything

If indies are tired of gridlock then make up your mind which party best fits your goals and throw your support to them

A basic tenet of negotiating is that you use the leverage that you have. Something you and Bonespurs (the "great" negotiator--heh!) don't seem to grasp.

    But that's flatly incorrect.

Give me a reason why they ought to give Bonespurs a dime for a campaign promise that matters only to people who actually believed his BS? Will it increase our security? No.

    Here's some example of compromise:

The Democrats made better offers but Trump is negotiating accident-prone.

The democrats offered the $25 bil in future appropriations not up front

It was liberal bait and switch

Neither does. My disdain for any organization to include political parties which put their organization or party's good above the good of the country is something I could never condone. If Tip O'Neal and Ronald Reagan could reach a compromise on SDI almost every year of Ronnie's presidency, so too could Trump and Pelosi.
Something has changed immensely since Reagan's time.

Reagan and O'Neal understood politics is the art of the possible. Each took the best they could get from the other. Neither was happy, but we continued to move forward. Today, it's all or nothing politics. I've said all along that a compromise of around 2.5 billion should have been reached prior to the shutdown. Each side giving up 2.5 billion seemed to be a good compromise. Neither side was willing, all or nothing.

This bothers me. All or nothing. When both sides adopt this philosophy, neither belongs in Washington.

We rejected people who had contagious diseases and wanted criminals that's about it. We certainly didn't restrict anybody, Something like 25 millions came here in the 19th century, the largest human migration ever known. It was how we settled an area which Thomas Jefferson said would not be fully occupied for a thousand years in less than a century.

And Republicans do? Compromise to them is very simple, give us everything we want. Hell, give up being Dems and go down to register Republican, we might let you in.

Their constant litany from Nov of 2016 to November of 2018? "**** you, we won" and they confidently expected it to be their mantra to 2020 and beyond. Somehow the Accidental Presidency convinced them that they "had their country back again" and they fully intended to enjoy it until losing the House slapped them hard with reality, for about a month. Now Trump is in El Paso, still preaching to his choir and ignoring the rest of the country. After all, all the losses this last time were election fraud and we all just Lurve Hitler's stepchild and want to make him President-For-Life in 2020.

No he didn't. You just made that up. Another fantasy.

You also avoided the issue of all the lies Dirty Donnie has told to placate you and the other trumpettes.

When are you going to hold the liar in the White House to his word ? Has Mexico paid a single dollar for the wall ? No. Any consequences for DD ? Not a one.

The land you speak of is settled now

There is no need for 30 million poor people because the factories are closed too

And as for disease forget it

The illegals in the santuary cities are bringing the plagues with them and no lib is objecting much less deporting them

They just clog up hospitals meant for Americans

We're growing, you're shrinking. We decide elections, neither base is big enough to do that. If one party or the other was smart, they'd move toward the center locking up the independent vote and become the powerhouse in government for the next 20-30 years. But both are dumb, they continue to move away from middle America, by middle America I mean the center, center left and center right folks.

    Here's what's going on:
Americans Continue to Embrace Political Independence

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/245801...utm_content=morelink&utm_campaign=syndication

From Above, "One of the major political developments in recent years is the increasingly polarized views of Democrats and Republicans, both in ratings of the president and on issue positions. A probable contributing factor to this is the shrinking of each party's base, with a greater number of Americans identifying as political independents."

Bill Clinton always said that closer to the center was the place to be. Not sure if he did that but that was his stated approach.

"I would build a great wall chain link fence, and nobody builds walls chain link fences better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great great wall chain link fence on our southern border and I’ll have Mexico the American tax payer pay for that wall chain link fence."

    trumps legacy secure.
All oboma did was get bin laden.
trump pulls through and shows the world what a real badass is.

Mexicans that don't know how to say chain link fence in english call them by the sound they make when you climb them "chinga chinga".

So when they climb over it they can call it The Great Chinga Chinga of trump.
