Dem Rep. Collin Peterson Says He’ll Likely Vote Against Impeaching Trump

And won't that be a lovely and worthless consolation prize to put up on your shelf next to your "Hillary won the popular vote" trophy?

 

There are several who are hearing it loud and clear from their constituents that they do not support impeachment, and will vote them out on this grounds.

Another PF poster said it has always been known that there would be strategic defections from the Dems. The problem is that this is a party line impeachment, with the only defections being against it. So, the dems will set the precedent with a vote to impeach, and the future looks bad for any Democrat POTUS.

 

They never think that far ahead.

 

BWAHAHAHAHA, the congressional democrats don't give a damn about the constitution. They, like every politician on both sides of the aisle in Washington, care only about their own power. They love to try to convince the foolish public that they are "only trying to do what is best for America", and "defend the constitution". Only the gullible fall for that crap. Politicians in congress are just like politicians everywhere. They are all opportunistic rats. The trick is to get the right rats elected to get the job done. So far Trump has been a rat that has accomplished the things that I voted for him to do. Meanwhile, the congressional rats are drowning, and have accomplished nothing.

 

16 kills it. There are 31 Democrats in districts Trump won. Slotkin and Esty felt the town hall burn.

 

Know what I find most interesting about this thread so far? That those that favor Trumps impeachment have no problem calling other Dems that have decided to vote "no" on impeachment as cowards etc etc when all their doing is listening to their constituents who they believe is mostly Republican and therefore of the other party and therefore shouldn't be listened to because their biased and party line voters who are dishonest, liars, racists, xenophobes etc etc.

Two things that they fail to realize is that Representatives are SUPPOSED to listen to their constitutients. That is literally in the name "House of REPRESENTATIVES". Second thing is that those Reps in those swing areas aren't just listening to Republicans...but also Independents. The group more likely to think critically than either Dems or Reps. Yet they have no problem lumping them together and insulting them with Republicans. What they fail to realize is that Dems NEED Independent voters in order to win re-election. And insulting them by including them with Republicans just because they don't support impeachment is not winning them any favors.

And while sacrificing oneself is noble and all, its kinda hard to continuing fighting for what you believe in if you are no longer able to because you sacrificed yourself.

 

Correct-you vote for the candidate you support-not the party.

Definitely true of voters...or at least that is how they SHOULD vote. But my main point was that House Reps SHOULD be voting based on what their voters say, because that is their job. To Represent their voters in the House of Representatives. Yet we have Dems/liberals/leftists/trump haters in this thread, and elsewhere calling them cowards because they are listening to their voters. Guess those people think that they shouldn't be listening to those that they Represent....

 

Must be one hell of a job.

 

The reason to vote no is that 99% of the presidents before Trump did worse things and 99% of the presidents after Trump will do worse things.

So impeachment will become a common tool of government, no different than a filibuster or a presidential veto.
